New member... seek advice on 911 purchase
SubscribeHi All,
I understand this is thee forum when it comes to Porsche! I've never owned one, but have always loved these cars as they drove past. I know someone who is looking to sell a 1995 911 with approx. 46K miles in excellent condition. I know it's got Tiptronic, 19" wheels, full leather, Xenon & Bose but not sure what else. #1 - Is this a good "starter" Porsche #2 - What is a fair price
What do I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a super redundant or basic post, but I just spoke to the guy today.

A 1995 car did not have bose or xenon . If i recall correctly only the Turbo had litronic light and the stereo was Blaupunkt (sp?) . It also did not come with 19 in wheels . I upgraded at the time to 17 in and the standard car came with 16. Originally Posted by Roar

a 993 with 46K miles may pose some additional cost to maintain . On my 993 I had to replace the wiring harness and heat sheild at roughly 30K miles.
It's a fantastic car but it's not a modern car and if it's a daily driver you may miss the creature comforts .. especially with it being a Tip.

.An 05 C2S with 46K miles has some risk (no warranty, more reported cases of Ims as well as RMS which can be large repairs ) and it is about to cross the 50K mile mark which even if it's perfect has an effect on resale if things with the car don't work out.
there are guys here with high mile 05 cars and no problems (that's the flip side and encouraging) .
For me .. the whole tradeoff boils down to how one copes with having doubts about a car . I realize that not everyone agrees on this but my feeling is to buy the most you can afford on day one . If the 05 car is in itself a stretch financially .. i would hold off ... because one large reapir may never happen but if it does ... it can turn a dream car into financial freefall. Plus if the car has over 50K miles .. it tightens the exit strategy a bit and adds to the expense.
