Exhaust Help Needed! Afterhours Cans or Gundo + Sports Cats in NYC Area?
Hey everyone, longtime reader, new user here. Big fan of the forum -- I think the exchange of knowledge here is just fantastic. As a Targa guy, I want to give a particular shout out to user TomE for recently solving the longstanding roof creak problem most dealers just couldn't address.
Now, onto the issue at hand. I want to amplify and deepen my exhaust tone -- I want ballsy, throaty gurgle across the band with a scream at +5k RPM. My only current intake/exhaust mod is the Gundos. I started with Fabspeed Maxflos (muffler only), but drone at cruising speeds + very modest pickup in sound at WOT = dissatisfaction for me. I then swapped out the Maxflos for Gundo cans. A definite step in the right direction, especially at WOT, but still not loud enough. I'm not looking to go muffler bypass loud (I use the car on 3-4 times a week and often on highways).
I'd really like to find the right sound this time around, with as minimal spending as possible. The Afterhours Gen 1 claim to be 70% volume of muffler bypass at WOT, which sounds like what I'm looking for, but I'd rather hear them before spending more time and $$. IMHO, videos can be very misleading (at least to my ears).
ANYONE IN THE NEW YORK CITY METRO AREA HAVE EITHER 1) AFTERHOURS CANS OR 2) GUNDO PLUS AWE SPORTS CATS that I can have a listen to?? If so, please PM me! These are the two options I'm focused on given my current setup.
Cattman -- If ur reading this, I know you've had both combos so please do share your wisdom. Of course anyone else who can share insights into either of these two setups, I'm all ears.
Sound is my to priority with this mod. I know from past threads that many folks love the added performance of the sports cats. If it were an equal draw on sound quality, I would then pick the sports cats for that reason. Thanks very much in advance!
