02 996 c4s vs. 05 997 c2....help
One key question hasn't been asked or answered:
Is it going to be a winter driver? Then you want the C4S for sure.
The mechanic you talked to gave good advice. Low mileage isn't always a good thing in these cars. The more they're driven, the less issues they usually have.

Absolutely no winter driving howeverbthe wad would come in handy for occasional rain I get caught in. Only thing keeping me from the c4s at this point is the headlights.
x50 or x51 is known as the power kit. they add 20hp to the 320 hp 3.6L engine in the 996. it was about $10-12k option.
the 2005 997S has more power and is more refined. no reason to get C4S over 997S in your case.
i don't necessarily agree that high mileage is better. you want a car that has been driven so low mileage is a warning sign. however, i have seen the transmission or engine fail at 80-90k often. so, make sure it's well maintained and treated right since the mileage is high.

thanks on the description of the x51. Sorry, in no means did I mean to say that high mileage that wasn't serviced, I am assuming up to date servicing as I am only looking for those with a history of servicing. My take on the higher mileage, and by that, I mean 50-60k miles, not 80-90k is that those cars will have been driven and chances are the RMS or ISB would have surfaced by then, not to mention that cars that weren't driven, ie low mileage, will only potentially worsen the issues as the seals and such would dry out from lack of use.
Anyway, looks like the 997 I was looking at sold while I was deliberating. thanks for all the responses. I may go get the 996c4s and throw 19" 997 turbo wheels and throw on techart headlight covers.

That is great to hear. I love my 996 C4S. Do you know which issues of Excellence and GTPorsche mentioned that. I twin turbo'd my
4S so its even more rare.....hahahaha.......;-p

While others are talking about looks and performance, and they are right. Keep in mind values on WB 996 C4S's are going up! These are sought after cars since not many were made. In fact, some nicer 996 C4S's are going for more than similar 996TT's... crazy I know but both Excellence and GTPorsche have featured them as future classics....
Just my two cents
