I've been tracking my car for over three years on street tires (RE-11's most recently), and am now ready to begin experimenting with r-comps. I'm set up to trailer my car. A few questions:
1. 18" wheels - Looking at the 18x8.5 and 18x11 OZ's from Tire Rack. Don't want to spend a fortune for tracks wheels. Anything else I should consider? Any thoughts on sizes beyond what's listed above?
2. R-Comp recommendations - Was thinking about Michelin sport cups, since they are reported to last a bit longer than the lower treadware racing tires like Hoosiers. Thoughts? Any other tires to consider?
3. The above means I should probably get racing seats and a harness bar. Any recommendations on seats (nothing too expensive)? Was looking at BK harness bars. Thoughts?

I have MPSC and don't like them at all, a slight step up from your RE11's IMO. I like the Yokohama 048 (noisy), but good for wet/dry and last fairly well. Kumho is another one that I see a lot of people use.

Don't get hung up on tread wear numbers from one brand to another, they are only relevant within a brand. There is no standard for tire wear.

I like the 996GT3 seats, they fit well and aren't too expensive.

if you use racing seats with a harness bar and no roll protection you are asking for a fatality in a simple roll over...don't do it...you are safer with the factory seats and belts...in a rollover they will allow your body to move...racing seats and a harness will hold you upright and your head will be crushed...get the picture...get roll protection first, then the seats and harnesses

1. Sparco or Recaro driver seat
2. Schroth harnesses
3. Hans
4. Oz Allegrita new or look for a used set in the classifieds

Tires.. I HIGHLY recommend Toyo RA1's or Nito NT-01's

These are by far the best R comp tires and last super long!!!!!!!

I wen through 15+ track days on one set.. hey just keep getting stickier.

Wheels: OZ's are great for the price, you should pull the trigger on them. I got CCW's because of my brake set up, otherwise I would've gone for the OZ's as well

Tires: Haven't tried MPSC, but I have a set of RE11's for the street and tried them on the track as well and they work great! people usually complain about MSPC not lasting long. I have RA1's and they're great but they've become unnecessarily expensive. Someone please chime in on Hoosiers, since a set of RA1 and Hoosiers cost about the same nowadays.

Seats: I have the folding buckets, which is awesome because they're comfy but keep you in place. They are really expensive nonetheless. I tried the 996 GT3 buckets, but was too narrow on the shoulders to drive it on a daily basis.

Rollbar: I agree with Chuck on this, I haven't seen any one flip their cars so far but you'll never know... So go with a real roll bar, RSS bar costs like $1,400 and I think it is worth the price (it's what I have in my car). Harness, I'll leave the choice to you on that

I use the Hoosier R6's and once you try them, you are only looking at them or full slicks for dry weather days. They have so much more grip then the R Comps. I find they last between 3-4 track days, but the days that I go to are open unlimited days. They take a few laps to warm up, but when they do....have fun. I have pulled just under 2G's with them on my C2S with Damptronics and H&R sway bars (rest is stock).

Thanks to recommendations from other members on these forums, I run 18x8.5 and 18x11 O.Z. Alleggerita's and Toyo RA1's 245/40 and 305/35 and I am very satisfied; it's probably the best track mod you can do for the money IMHO. The OZ are light and seem solid, I put tires off the track a couple of times and the OZ are holding up very well so far.

If I had the extra money I would have gone with the CCW's - they are just gorgeous and, from what I hear, bombproof - but I decided to upgrade my suspension and brakes with the money I saved on the wheels; since gorgeous doesn't make you quicker on the track... hahaha...

I see you already took care of LCA's and brakes so you should be good to go.
