DFI 3.6 is a sipper

I've never owned a car this frugal on gas. My last 3 cars were all BMW V8s. And my wife's current 4.8 X5 has a hole in the tank. You can't get home from the station after a fill up without the needle dropping below full - seriously.

In the 911 I get 18 city and 27 highway. I have an 09' 3.6 manual and 6th gear is not very tall. It seems geared for track use. I'm over 3,000 rpms at 80. So, I can imagine the PDK cars with 7th gear get better highway mileage and probably cruise a little more relaxed.

After puncturing tire on my 997 GT2 at track day, on the way home with a tire filled with leak stop I set it in cruise control at 55mph, the limit for tires filled with gel. Got 27 mpg. Not bad for a 600 hp car!

i thought it was about DFI engines only.
my car shows 16 mpg stabilized for city/highway use. during DE days its 'meter' stays on 9 as it is a lowest number it can show.

just heck with gas, i rarely keep engine lower than 3.5-4k rpm and just enjoy my ride. if measured on a highway, 6th gear at 3k rpm - it shows about of 22-24mpg.

what I do want to do is to install european or 'cup' 90l gas tank - it fits fine instead of smaller tank our USA cars get. it is not very expensive but is kinda difficult to find, usually when people buy cup cars and install fuel cell instead of it, so supply is kinda scarce.

I must drive like a nut because

I'm only getting about 11 mpg. I don't think it has much to do with the car and more to do with my need to accelerate hard

I also drive in Sport plus 90 percent of the time.

When I had the 09'C2S....... after it was broken-in, on a long hwy drive (so long-flat-and-lllllllllong). Was 24 @ 80cruise with AC on........ when doing the more agressive driving in the mountain areas would dip between 16-18. I'm thinking (hard here) when I had the 04'C4S it was 26 on the highway.

You must have some good roads around your home to let the car wind out a bit.
