Slight Squealing - Need Help Diagnosing

Hello everyone,

New to the board! Have a 2007 C2, manual, with 8K on the odometer. Washed the car last week, covered it, and didn't drive for about 7 days. Last night, took the car out and heard two noises:

1) Slight grinding noise when braking (went away after a while - - maybe that the rotors were rusted a bit or something with the brake pads since I washed it last week and hadn't driven it); and

2) When letting go of the cluch and getting into first gear, hear a slight "squealing" sound. Couldn't repeat this morning or today. Is this normal and is this because I washed and didn't drive the car? Not sure where the squealing sound came from, and thought it was clutch or brakes.

Love this board! Thanks everyone in advance!

Item 1) - Did you dry the brakes, by driving the car around the block after you washed it? If not, that was probably the reason.

Item 2) - It is pretty typical.

Adias - -

1) Didn't drive around the block after washing to dry the brakes. Will definitely remember to do that next time!

2) Where does this squeal come from? It probably happened before, but didn't notice it. I had the windows up and no radio on, so I heard it.

Thanks!!

#2 Could be a glazed clutch or bad throwout bearing. I have the same issue. I drive in alot of stop and go traffic which could have something to do with it. That said, it seems to go away for a bit after a spirited drive.

If its like a "chirping" sound when you let out the clutch, I had it for a while too. It actually happened about 5k miles before my clutch went out but I was told it was a glazed clutch plate or "hot spots" by my Porsche dealer.

Thanks!!
There are 2 clutch squeaking sounds people hear. One is in the pedal assembly, which can be lubricated. The other is in the clutch lever release in the transaxle - harder to eliminate and harmless.

Yup. That's the sound - - chirp - - sometimes there, and sometimes not. Guess will just have to live with it!
