Returned from PDE - some 997 insight
Hurley was, and Cass Whitehead, David Donohue, Joe Fox, and Daniel Eastman. No Doc Bundy. Hurley isn't the best teacher in the world - old school guy, likely it all came easy to him, and he's so accustomed to being the best that he can't comprehend why someone just can't 'get it' because it's SO easy!
Todd,
Sounds like a great time. I'm hoping to attend next year. Amazingly my wife has expressed interest in also driving. Is it possible for her to have a tip the entire time? She has no track experience and does not have the "need for speed" but thinks she would like to do this...what do you think? Are the instructors patient enough for a complete novice? BTW the Wynfrey looks great.
Does anyone have an opinion on what time of year would be best to visit this area of the country? We'll probably stay for a week and do the 2 day PDE.
Thanks,
-Glen

Glen,
Your wife could have tip the entire time, except for the heel and toe exercise, where even the tip drivers have to give it a go. As far as time of year, I'd stick with spring and fall, skip the muggy hot humid summer - they might not let you put the a/c on because of power loss.

It's a great time, gets you hooked on the track. I wouldn't bring a helmet, their's are 'clean'. Forget the suit. When I do the masters in sept I will bring gloves though, I had caluces on my hands for weeks afterward. Dan Eastman and Dave Murray are the two best instructors if you ask me, Hurley was too much, esp since I just paid 89k for a car and 3k for the trip. He needs to lighten up a little.
Stay at the Wynfrey, anywhere else and you will regret it, I wouldn't stay a week, there is zero to do after the track, and I grew up in these areas, my wife would hate it.
Worth every cent! Hell, I would have paid more!

I agree about the gloves - wish I had them, and will be purchasing them. With helmet, if you can bring your own without much trouble, do it, otherwise theirs really are pretty new. I'm just a hygeine guy..
