2010 Navi PCM

After dreaming for about 6 years, just got my first Porsche...2010 Carrara S. Since I am still infatuated for the moment and lacking the clarity the rush of the 6 speed causes for the near future, I have question about the PCM.. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

The car did not come with NAVI or XM.. Dealer said it would be 6500 to add NAVI!! "the whole module has to be replaced".. But the unit has a "NAV" button on the screen.. are they correct or could this just require a add on to the module?
Lots to learn about the car for years to come.

Also has anyone gone to the Driving School in Alabama? Is course worth it?

Thanks!

Congrats on your new car. Post pics when you get a chance.

Your dealer is correct. You will need a new PCM unit with Nav. Not sure about the $6,500 price tag, but the unit itself is $3,600.

Thank you! After reading through a lot of the posts yesterday... I'll probably opt for the $200 Garmin for the occasional times I would need GPS... $3,500 is an ouch... Thanks for the link for Suncoast, they seem to come up a lot when searching for accessories or ideas; looks like a good reliable source.

I have NAV and XM and have never used either. I generally like driving with the Radio off and usually I am driving where I know the area anyway. In my view, its not worth worrying about.

I would definitely spend the money going to Alabama instead. This post will convince you.

I am currently waitlisted for the May 3/4 session with one of my friends on this forum, Plp39403. I also spoke with "J" who is one of the guys in the photo on the link above. He said it is awesome and said once you do it you will be hooked. He has done it twice and will do the Master's next. General consensus is...Bottomline you wont be disappointed.
