anyone have a photo of ceramic coating? I thought powder coating is not smooth but sandpaper like. It looked like a smooth black paint on NC997's tips.

If you want a good cheap set.

1. Buy a can of VHT black exhaust paint.
2. Remove exhaust tips
3. Paint exhaust tips
4. VHT will shine up when buffed... buff tips
5. Install tips.... done and for $5

If you dont want to DIY then ceramic coating is probably best choice without buying new tips.

I found these in Autozone, which one is better? Or where to buy?

1) VHT Paints/11 oz. satin black caliper paint

  • Ceramic resins resist heat up to 900° f

2) Rust-Oleum/12 oz. flat black high heat paint
  • Resists up to 2000 degrees. Durable formula that resists oil, grease, rust, salt, humidity and solvents.

The guy who did mine (Roger at Final Touch Powdercoating - www.finaltouchpowdercoating.com ) has a building next to his powdercoating shop where the 'blasts' (don't know if it's sand of some other media) items before they get PC'd.

Powdercoating is all he does, and he's very good at it.

What did you pay at Lo-Ko? They are more convenient to me than the place in Steger that I got a quote from.

I figured I'd try powdercoating the stock tips before I spent $500+ on tips from AWE or Fabspeed. I'm very happy with the results (which I know, isn't everybody's cup o' tea..). I'm even happier with the cost (less than $50).
Very nice job! Where and how can I can get that done in Vancouver Canada?

Any recommendations for a place local to New England or at least one that deals with mail orders for ceramic coating?

Mikli here is a photo of the dual-tips ceramic coated gloss black. Now these are on a Gallardo, but I wanted to show the quality.

JHBrennan: We can do the black gloss ceramic coat on your tips. This is a similar situation to the customer with the yellow Gallardo I posted above. Those were a high-polished T304 stainless steel tip that we had ceramic coated. What tips do you have?

I've found a few names in Rmd for powder coating but haven't call for a quote yet. I thinking if I could do it 40-50 bucks then why not try and worst case is to get a fabspeed or awe tip which I was planning anyways. If you are interested maybe we could do it together. PM me
