To the OP: FWIW, I researched the heck out of the market before I bought - I'm month out but doubt if it has changed much. I was looking for a 2009 PDK, so subtract $3-5K (I'm guessing) for a manual. Here is a summary of what I found. Very clean C2S's with ~5k miles were selling for $72-$75 at retail - yes, many are offered higher but for those that actually wanted to sell their cars, that seemed to be the going rate. Some, but not all, had CPO. Since I ALWAYS do a detailed PPI (including body shop guy with paint meter), the CPO is less important to me (plenty of arguments I'm sure on this point). Inventory is tight for 2009 and 2010s and will always be considering the reduced production in those years - so the new/used gap is as narrow as I can remember it being. It will resolve by used cars slowly coming down in price, but I would guess not by much until the 991 is launched. My advice is find the right car - and dont fret about getting the BEST deal, but with homework you can get a GOOD deal on a GREAT car. Good luck.

Who the heck was paying in the $60'sk for 2008 C2S models in 2008 ? That makes no sense unless the front end was ripped off.

Nearby me there is an arctic silver 2008 C2S going for $67995 with 11700 miles with exact same options. If I offered them $60k they would laugh me right outta there, even today. Might be able to get them to $64k, if lucky.

Definitely go with the 2009, I have a feeling that you will be wishing that you had that extra power in the 2008.

On a side note, where in CT are you from?

I'm in central ct, I talked with the dealer with the 09 c2 today and it sold so I am going to head down to Danbury tomorrow to see the 08 c2s. They are asking 66.8k what's a great deal on that car? If I can't get it for a deal then I'll wait.

Longterm I would think the S would be a better car for resale. Time will tell.

No PASM on the '09 unless ordered as an option. Standard on all S's both .1 & .2. That being said, the PCM on the .2 cars is nice, as is the DFI.

But your constantly cheapen everybody's cars on this forum. Except if I recall correctly yours when you were thinking about a GT3.

Just because you find an example or two doesn't mean thats the general trend.

But like I said I'll just drop it now.
But you didn't drop it.
Instead you made baseless acccusations to serve as a deflection --perhaps to voice your own sentiment .

I do not have to justify, argue, defend or explain an opinion when a person asks what he feels a car is worth as a general question to an open forum .

If you don't like what I have to say . place me on ignore .

I'd go with the 997.2 and not look back.

How much markup do the dealers normally have in these cpo cars?
The 997.2 is a tough car to negotiate but I happen to agree with you that the extra warranty is important . I also like the Dfi engine and if you choose PDK it really is a fantastic system . You may also like the technology (PCM) over the older car . In short .. I feel the 09 car has some perks .
The base 997.2 is a very nice car .

Don't be so sure that you would get that kind of power with a plenum

Can you prove otherwise? Brings it within a whisker (-2 hp at peak). At that point there's no real difference from the butt dyno. Largely because the stock .1 plenum is so inefficient. Porsche took notice of their inferior product when they redesigned it for the .2. Which is why a more efficient plenum makes half the increase for the .2. It is what it is. I don't think anyone would opt for the .1 all things equal. But fortunately most of the performance difference can be easily made up thanks to a very basic and inefficient stock plenum. For another grand, X51 headers will fill-in even more torque and smooth out the curve.

Don't discount the effects of much improved airflow.

Look it up about the plenums, Its not what they say it is. Some independant shop did their own dyno tests, and said its all false advertisment.
