Well, after much thought, I ended up taking my car to the dealer. I had a feeling it could be the starter. They put in a Porsche battery and the cost installed was $438. Oh well.. just going to have to make it a point to drive it once a week.

I could have flown to California, gone to Walmart and replaced your battery for less than $300 - why'd you let the dealer screw you on that?

I wasn't sure it was the battery only. I thought it might be the starter and/or battery. I had other minor reasons to bring it in to dealer. I didn't trust the one person I know who had both the time, tools and space to change it b/c it's sitting 120 miles from me right now at my relative's home. So, it wasn't just the obvious reason in this case.

I think he's in NJ now and has not updated his profile.

I have done 1.5 months between starting the car up. Remote needs resetting but otherwise the car started instantly... the battery is stronger than you think it is!

When you lock the car it will go into "sleep mode". This will add to your battery's life.

Quote: I can't plug in a traditional batter maintainer because I live in a condo with a semi public underground parking structure. So, how often do I need to start it and how long do I need to run the car per month (or per week) to keep the battery good. I am just putting a new one in because of non-use. Thanks
find a cheap (ebay) pluggable solar panel one if car sees any sunshine.

Yes, mechanic told me but since the car is in a semi-public garage (gated condo community), I always lock it of course.

I think it is the opposite. When a car is locked the alarm is on and uses power.

Ok well, I literally JUST got off the phone with the Porsche dealer mechanic and he told me to lock it to put it in sleep mode. Regardless, I have to lock the car.

car will go into a sleep mode after car is locked for 10-14 days. sounds like you should get a portable battery and hook it up to the car battery.

Car doesn't go to sleep - just the remote function:

The remote-control standby function
switches off after 7 days
If the vehicle is not started or unlocked with the remote
control within 7 days, the remote control
standby function is switched off (to prevent discharging
of the vehicle battery).
1. In this case, unlock the driver’s door with the
key at the door lock.
Leave the door closed in order to prevent the
alarm system from being triggered.
2. Press button
1 on the remote control.

The remote control is now activated again.
