Agree with consensus....hold out for 997.2 S. Moving from 997.1 to 997.1 S doesn't make sense cause the minute you do it you will be wishing for a 997.2.

One thing's for sure, I much prefer the front end of the 997.2 compared to 997.1. And you get a lot more standard stuff, and more power. I hear you, hopefully I am being talked off...

I would get the S - enjoy the rear weight bias and lower weight!

Other than going from 6-speed to PDK, is there any significant reason to go from 997.1 C2S to 997.2 C2? I know about the improved fuel mileage, improved throttle at low RPM, bigger mirrors, LEDs in the 997.2 along with the objective decreased steering feel and exhaust note.

Is it mandatory to get Sports Chrono with PDK? The 2011 997.2 C2S I test drove had both PDK and Sports Chrono and the throttle blips on deceleration was absolutely sublime. Driving in Sports Plus mode was exhilarating.

My opinion is that there's no point on getting a PDK w/out SC, other than wanting something to shift for you. Basically, the Sport Mode increases pedal sensitivity and throttle response. W/out that, the pedal just feels soft & slushy...it DOESN'T feel like a PORSCHE. And of course, Sport Plus puts the car in race mode.

When I had my PDK C2S, every time I started it up, I defaulted to turn on Sport Mode and Turn off PASM (too harsh for everyday driving). When I was in a mood to dare a ticket, I'd press Sport Plus and throw on a constant grin.

As for the point of the question here, I think there are too many incremental improvements in the 997.2 to upgrade from his C2 to another .1 car, regardless of chosen tranny. PCM is better. DFI. 997.2 C2 power is almost equal to 997.1 S (345 v 355).

But then again, it's not my car and not my money...

Keep your car. You may get a few extra ponies if you lower your spoiler

Thanks for sharing your experience. My C2S is coming up on her 4th birthday and I'm contemplating a 997.2 to tidy me over until the 991 comes out. The pricepoint of the 997.2 C2 is certainly more attractive than the 997.2 C2S and the performance of the base 997.2 C2 is certainly comparable to the 997.1 C2S.

I would say though that most of the 997.2 C2 cars don't have sport chrono, is that right ? PDK is a big advantage as far as acceleration goes, but the 997.2 C2 cars may also not have PASM, which I think is an excellent feature.

If I do plan on keeping my 997.1, I will plan on getting the sport button installed or doing the GIAC.

Well, maybe these guys are ALL right! Perhaps I should have talked you in to a .2 before giving you an honest evaluation to your original comparison

You have a very nice car already...IMO changing to either one you posted is not worth it. I'd throw on some Carerra Sport wheels and continue to save for something that will provide a dramatic difference. Maybe a .2 would do it for you, only you can make that decision.

IMO...I'd save for a turbo, GT3, etc...the desire for something more will never end...you can only hope to temporarily subside it...my gut tells me you'll be wanting more again in 6 months even with an S.

Good luck

Your trade up seems minor unless your going for the 4S. I would do neither and look for a 09+ with PDK.

You can get a 2009 c2s for $70k or so, maybe even less for more miles and less options. The 385 hp will be very noticeable. It's a very strong car. Plus you get warranty that's newer. I would not go 997.1 C to 997.2CS. It's too small a move, really.

FYI,
in ur position, i'd resist the temptation..
cause i'll soon get over it..
enjoy the car for another two and a half years..
and with the money i saved from not trading in my car too early, buy the 991..

and i'd be sure to get the S model
