Parkcity911 is infamous around these parts
I've gotten reports like that in writing and have gone back to them after something failed after warranty. Granted, it was on a Lexus SUV, but they still replaced the part as it should have been under warranty. Yes, when it is there dime they become penny pinchers! All of them.

does this seem right?
As others have said, these prices are BS. As for your options when you actually need brakes, go to an independent Porsche shop or German car repair shop. Any of them can repair your brakes for a good deal less the numbers you were quoted by your dealer.

Hey Gents.
I am mechanically challenged but a quick learner. I would love to learn how to do some basic things like oil changes, and brakes. How did you guys learn? Did you guys get a manual, book, video? I think these things would be pretty straight forward.
Thanks in advance.

Are there any good Indy repair shops in your area? Get a second opinion. If he is gouging you, then move on to the Indy. Seems like he might have been trying to take advantage of you.

i think the warranty they use to sell cpo cars are useless...

it is because PCNA rep came into shop and told them your car is fine.
for future - when you get such a verdict - take those 2 tech people to service manager, make him prepare a job order in your presence, request parts and confirm everything before you leave the shop.

My 1993 964 had brake squeal so bad that school bus drivers used to point and laugh at me when coming to a stop. I took it to my dealer, Stead in Walnut Creek, CA, about every other month during warranty and generated a ton of paperwork. Finally another chronic issue popped up I sent 5 certified letters, 2 to PCNA (Regional Mgr and GM) and 3 to the dealership (Sales Mgr, GM and President) and within 5 days the dealer called and said PCNA wanted to meet and discuss the issues. I drove home in a new 993 that afternoon. MAKE SURE TO DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT! Porsche does not like facing Lemon Laws/

Brake squeal isn't just a Porsche problem, my MB squeals as well. Going fast and braking hard helps temporarily. It squeals more when it is cold out, I have learned to ignore it as it is not a safety concern.

Since this thread got resurrected, I'll throw in my experience. It was just the opposite. I complained that my seat shifted back and forth a little - they changed the worm drive motor in the seat. I complained that the spoiler motor groaned a bit - they didn't grease it, they changed the motor (like $800). Mentioned I had a little spot on my garage floor - they found the water pump must be leaking and they replaced it. Clutch had a clicking sound as it went to the floor, which stopped - they found a plastic part broke, so they needed to replace the whole clutch slave cylinder. Complained that the tranny looked like it almost had an oil drip. Complained twice, they took the tranny out and replaced the IMS (right, the IMS, not the RMS. Couldn't figure that one out.) I'll need to detail these in another thread, but I found the dealer VERY interested in replacing parts AND making the customer happy. This all on my RELIABLE 2007 S. Not sure I want to experienc reliability without a warranty. All this on a car with 20-30k miles. Barely serviced twice.

I have a feeling that this is a dealer to dealer situation.

The dealer I use in NJ to service my Porsche is terrific! I get the same excellent mechanic and when something is wrong they replace it or fix it and I never feel like they're trying to make money on me. I just had it in four an oil change and they replaced my rusted lug nuts and ordered a missing part for me that I didn't even notice was missing.

I had my 06 engine fail and I had a new engine in 3 days as I recall. As with every product..customer service is everything!
