2007 Carrera TPC question(s)

Hi all,

Just got off the phone with my service writer at Beverly Hills Porsche regarding an error message I have: TPC innactive...learning mode.

My 2 questions are: This came on while I was driving. Does this mean a sensor has gone bad? (he thought because its almost 5 years old, that the batteries eventually die and the sensor needs to be replaced) And 2) I have the CPO warranty on the vehicle. If it is a sensor that the battery died on, will it be covered under the CPO warranty?

Oh, a bonus question: If I want to disengage the whole TPC system, can I? I mean, I am sure the sensors are BIG BUCKS to replace and are pretty inaccurate. Whats the point of paying for them if you can just check the tires once every couple of months and be done with it, yes?

As always, thank you all in advance!

Steve

If the sensor is bad maybe the warranty will cover - if the battery is dead probably not. Replacement sensors with valve stems from Suncoast (or others) about $110 per wheel. I believe you can disonnect TPC but it's a lot of work and you need special equipment to do so and the dealer probalby won't want to do it for liability reasons. Search for member Mooty - I believe he detailed the how to on this a couple of years ago. Maybe it was in Rennlist.
