Daily Driven C2S, Ride quality...too rough?
Daily Driven C2S, Ride quality...too rough?
How do you guys who daily drive the C2S find the suspension and ride? I assume it cant be too bad since tons of people say they are great daily drivers. I have read some articles that say its incredibly rough.
In normal mode, perfect as a daily driver. You want to keep the sport setting for very smooth roads/highways or smooth tracks. I have put 39,600 street miles on my car since new in 2006. Definitely usable every day. I'd have to know more about the people who have written reports otherwise to understand their views, as I definitely don't see why.
I don't mind the ride at all and i am also on coil overs like North Van but i do feel taht if someone had been accustomed to a luxury car --it's an adjustment .
Wth a stock suspension it's pretty comfortable considering the nature of the car .

You are going to have to drive one yourself a couple of times on your daily communte to make the decision. One person's "comfy/cushy" ride could feel like you are getting your fillings knocked out to someone else. Everyone's opinon on ride quality is different.
The ride quality wasn't the reason I decided it couldn't be a DD for me....it was the lack of space for drycleaning, golf clubs, an overcoat, etc. Craming **** in the backseat got old real fast. Car (2WD) was abysmal in even the slightest bit of snow. You are in GA so that won't be a factor for you. Also, don't know what type of business you are in but keep in mind -- if you have to take a client out in your car, it isn't the most comfortable or quietest car in the world either. I personally think these cars are best utilized as a second or third car for pure driving involvement/enjoyment.

Mines a daily driver with Damptronics and I like the ride. I've put 6K miles on it since last November. With snow tires it makes a decent winter ride. As stated try to put a little time in the car to see how it feels. Try a mix of highway and secondary.

I have a GT3 and I like driving it to work from time-to-time. I find no issues with driving it (other than watching for low spots in the road which scrape the front lip!) as a commuter car, but it's more of a Friday treat for me, as I daily drive a Ford F150. I would have had no problem driving my C4S every day when I had it.
I say go for it.

I'm 63 y.o. and have a bad back. DD for the C2S? Absolutely - 140 mile round trip to work twice weekly for me. I have the factory sport suspension and adaptive seats. When my back is really achy, those seats and that car is the only place I feel comfortable. But as others have said, depends on what you consider comfortable.
50 miles commute DD... Sport damper setting gives me no issues on the highways/nicer roads but I usually have to turn it off for some stretches of urban road.
Coming from a 300ZX DD, the Normal damper feels comfy

The 997 C2S is a terrific DD! Great AC, comfortable seats, great driving position and visibility, and with the PASM set on "Normal" it rides very much like my wife's BMW 550 in terms of firmness, etc. On "Sport", however, it's a very different ride!
If you're used to a boat-like Mercedes or Cadillac with not much feel, it will be an adjustment, but one that you'll appreciate. You certainly aren't sacrificing comfort in the 997 C2S.
