I have a 2012 Rubicon on order (40% bhp increase over previous Wranglers!) and I'm having fun planning on how to deck it out. AEV Pintler wheels, lift kit, rock rails, (tastefully) big Goodyear Duramax tires. The folks on the Jeep forum are more into aftermarket than we 997 folks, but they don't appear to have the same level of disposable income to make things happen as quickly as we do. With better funding, you get the impression that they'd really go crazy. BTW, the best over-the-top mods include SRT Hemi conversions.

LOVE Jeeps! I have a '10 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara for those bad weather days... love it, makes you feel laidback just driving it and that thing can go anywhere, lol.
Only drawback: NO power... passing on the highway takes a lot of planning and luck!
Am interested to hear what you think of the new PentaStar engine when yours comes in... have been thinking about trading up if the engine lives up to the hype. Congrats on the purchase, have fun!

Love my Grand Cherokee. It's my winter car, hauling car, and for long trips with the family. The 5.7 hemi has tons of giddyup. The p-car is my daily driver most days, but it's still fun to hop in the Jeep.
the thought of buying an old Wrangler has crossed my mind
but I figured I'd never realistically use it
the 6.1 is awesome but lacking in options/gadgets.. Great for the price in North America, not so much outside (in Beirut, the 6.1 goes for 85,000$USD)

I sold my '07 King Ranch last January to order a new 4x4 GC Overland.
Although it's my 1st Jeep, if they continue making these types of improvements across their lineup, it won't be my last.
Truly a fine vehicle and great value!

Love the cheaps, I mean heaps … ah … “Jeeps”
Owned 3 for years.
Nothing better than crawler bumper, 35” or larger tires, spare tire carrier with can holders, lots of lights, snorkel, bikini top, big sound system, cow bell hanging from the bumper.
Careful, you will sink more in to them than you can get out. Plus if you wheel it “it breaks”
Not so cool rolling up to a high power business meeting, but on the weekends “YEE HAW”
buy it you will like it

I bought a 2011 Wrangler Sport last fall for Winter use. It's turtle slow and handles for **** but for some reason, I really enjoy it and use it far more than I expected. There is a TON of aftermarket toys available. To date, I have swapped out wheels and tires and the radio and speakers. I have also added light guards front and back and IPF headlights. I am considering a small lift but I have stopped modding it for now because I want to test drive the 2012 with the Pentastar before investing more $ - may consider a trade-in in the fall.
Well, I live in Toledo (the land of JEEP, where Wranglers are made), and I can tell you that Jeep will take off like a rocket and soar...
The new Wrangler, espec. Rubicon, will be a smash hit. (The New Liberty, also made here, will be out next year too, and will be just as great as the Grand Cherokee, but at a more affordable price point).
I'm seriously considering the Wrangler Rubicon too--it's one of the few iconic cars left, like the 911, worth owning for the long-term....

The other cool thing about the Wrangler is that it defies demographics. Male/female, old/young, rich/poor - they are driven and loved by everyone. Name another car that is that "socially versatile".
Very true. My kids (8 and 11 year old boys) were far more excited about the Wrangler when we got it than any other car we have had - and that would include two 911s, two M3s, and a string of other BMWs and Audis). I am quite surprised that my Wrangler attracts far more attention and comments on the road than those cars. There is just some universal appeal to the Jeep the defies explanation.
Absolutely love Jeeps. If I were to buy an SUV, it would be the Grand Cherokee. The latest version is as well equipped and built as any German/Japanese car. Filled with technology and luxury. I've already test driven it twice ... I might take the plunge soon enough.
