Swap in a Manual 6 spd for my TT Turbo?

I recently bought a highly and beautifully optioned 2009 Turbo, but with the Tiptronic. My first Porsche and I love it, except.

I would like to learn if it is a "money is no object" project to consider getting a used 6 spd installed. (If I could find a used one or someone else who wants to swap in reverse!) Would there be a lot more to it than the obvious exchange of the transmission? Is it doable?

Thanks,
Rick

Congrats on your new car - you will love it. Pictures? BTW there is a 997 Turbo section for the future. :P

I am sure some crazy mechanic out there will take all your money to try and make the swap for you but your just better off selling and getting what you want. I mean in this in the nicest way possible and I don't mean to rain on your parade but if "money was not an object" why didn't you just get manual in the 1st place?

My sentiments, exactly. maybe $$$ is no object but time is more valuable than $$$. Chances are it will take a while to get all the BUGS worked out (it wont be perfect the first time you get it back). In addition, it will take considerable time to do the swap...AND will take a fierce depreciation hit upon resale...no brainer

Good advice here. Trade for turbo manual or if $$ truly is no object 2011 turbo s with pdk.

You all seem to have misread my question and made it a statement. I said "I would like to learn IF it is a money is no object project", not that it "IS a money is no object project." In other words, not practical financially. I didn't win the lotto.

An 09 Turbo with all the options this has (alomost $30k of them) with low miles is hard to find, and I didn't know for sure which trans I wanted. Read lots of posts on the topic and there was no clear cut answer for me there either. Like I said, it's not bad, I just think I would prefer the manual if it isn't a huge expense.

It would be a lot of work and not worth it. In addition to the transmission and the different interior trim bits, the ECU would probably have to be replaced or reprogrammed as well. Resale would likely suffer as well.

It would cost much less to sell or trade it and buy the one you want. It could probably be done, but without a really good reason and a mountain of cash it doesn't make sense.

I would say work with what you have. There's modifications you can make to the tiptronic transmission that will not only help it last longer with the high power, but also make it drive and behave more aggressively....dare I say, more like a PDK.
