C2S vs. C4S PROS & CONS
C2S vs. C4S PROS & CONS
I am looking to buy my first Porsche,
I want it for a weekend drive and track days.
I thought 4S was the better option, but recently I have been reading post that say 2S is the better choice.
What are the pros and cons of the 2 of them?
A Turbo is not an option on my price range, so lets take it out of the equation.
Thanks

So what's wrong with that .. some ask? In fact they might even add that they prefer the normally aspirated engine for its seamless acceleration .
I'll tell you what's wrong .. The C2S will cost less, out handle it and be more fun to drive . In fact the only reason I can think of to get AWD is either if one drives in the snow or rain a lot . Not that it matters .. because even if a c4S has road control in the snow all the other cars don't and they can crash into it.
And what of those track stats which cliam the C4S can get around the track faster .. well that depends on the track, the weather . the driver , and if AWD was so useful for the track then it woild be an integral part of the Gt3 and Gt2 cars .
No, the 2S has a slightly narrower body. So if you like the wide a$$ look, you will have to go with an AWD, GT or turbo. The rest of the features on the 2S and 4S are similar with the exception of the wheels, 11 inch rears with 305 rubber on the 4S and 10.5 with 295 rubber on the 2S.
Now I am leaning toward the 2S,
PROS
Lower price
More 2S in the market, than 4S
Weights less
People say it is more fun to drive, or faster than the 4S in most situations
CONS:
DOESN`T HAVE THE WIDE *** LOOK THAT I LOVE, SH::::::::T
Does anyone have pics form behind of a 2S and a 4S

997.1 ?
no questions, C2S.
if .2, the connected tail lights + wide rear just might make me go and HAVE to test drive the 997.2 C4S even though i am a complete RWD type of guy..
i've been a sucker for those tails these days

I'm biased, but I test drove a number of 2S's and 4S's before choosing my 4S. I not only love the wide ***, but I found the 4's to be exhilerating to drive. I can take corners at a much faster rate than the 2 is capable of, and feeling the power being parsed out to all four wheels when I come off the apex is a joy. The grip these cars have is simply stunning. I completely disagree with those who say the 2's are more fun or faster to drive.
I am a new used C2S owner and I would definitely suggest you test drive both models as much as you can. I went into my purchase with the exact same questions. For me the 4S felt to attached to the road and i could definitely tell that it was the heavier vehicle. Imo it didn't feel as responsive as the 2S. I can certainly see why some people do choose the 4S but it just wasn't for me. In the end whichever car you decide on I'm sure you will be quite happy, I certainly am.

This is rubbish!
The 4S can't take corners at a much faster rate at all, both cars have similar grip levels available.
What its more a case of is the 4WD systems gives you more security/confidence and hence you push the 4S harder than you would a 2S.
But two professional drivers in a 2S and a 4S will be hard to tell apart as both have very very similar capabilities. Fact is for track use RWD hence the 2S is preferred as its lighter and RWD is more purer.
If as you say the 4S could take corners far quicker, than the 4S would be far quicker round tracks which it simply is not, the 2S and 4S both post very similar track times.
Fact is though if your into 1/4 mile the 2S tends to be a couple of tenths quicker with a 1-2mph higher terminal speed.
For your stated purposes the C2S is the way to go. I have a C4S for my DD in the Pacific NW. I have done 3 DE events and skills events this year and am having a blast.
You can spend the extra money you may save on a C2S on track tires/wheels,suspension,safety mods,go pro camera, and tuition for PSDS courses. Hope your girlfriend/wife is an understanding sort and you have extra room in your garage. LOL

A. opinions are like ****oles -- have one, don't be one.
B. I'm not alone.
Car and Driver: The 3.8-liter C4S, in particular, now has so much torque at low revs that it pulls away like a Detroit V-8.
Car and Driver: Although the new four-wheel-drive system does not take away any of the 911’s agility, its superior ability to pull you out of a slide is noticeable.
CNET: Each turn we took, the car followed the direction we pointed it, with no squealing or complaining, and not a hint of slide. We eventually found some tight corners where we got a little sound from the tires, but overall the 911 4S handles incredibly well.
CNET: The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet drives like a dream, handles corners with near perfection, and offers efficient power from its flat six-cylinder engine.
The Sunday Times: Four time Monte Carlo rally winner Walter Röhrl says the four-wheel-drive system takes him about his business quicker than he’d travel in a Carrera S.
Autoblog: Enjoyed on the same mountain roads as the Porsche Cayman S and the Nissan GT-R, the Carrera C4S eagerly dances from corner to corner with aplomb. Sophisticated electronics divided the available traction to effectively blot out nearly all full-throttle wheel spin.
