I noticed there are some scratches on the chrome(or is it stainless steel?) strip alinf the roof line on my Targa. Is there a way to buff them out? What product should i try? TIA

If it's magnetic it's most likely a 436 or 435 17 chrome ferritic. A good metal polish should work. The effort will depend on the depth of the scratches. The trick will be matching the surface texture of the polished section to the original.

I have the same issue. I am going to try some Flitz metal polish. I will report back on my results.

i was just troubled with this problem recently with my rims with chrome lip.

From my research, people suggest that identifying the metal is the very first step to polishing any metal finish. If it is an aluminum finish, then use metal polisher; if it's a chrome finish, then use a chrome polisher. Also, it seems like using the wrong polisher will potentially damage the finish.

I just finish polishing my rims with meguiar chrome polisher w/ meguiar powerball, it works wonder!

Has anyone successfully polished the chrome trim strip on a 997? Which product? Mine has a little haze to it that I'd like to sort out.
