Thanks for all you input.

I took the plunge.

Its funny though, when I was driving to trade the car( about 5 hrs drive) , I was not sure I wanted to do it, meaning to trade. But eventually, I saw the benefit of getting into a DFI.

The engine sound is totally different from my C2S.

I drove her to dallas for the weekend, and eventually to home and it took 7 hrs total and I got to examine was she is made of. Both in city and highway driving. This is a fantastic car. I really like the manual tranny.

All the combination, interior and exterior, that I wanted minus $38000. Dealer agreed to $75500. Can't find anything price like this anywhere.

The thing that made me really go for it is really the condition of the car. You can't beat it coming from a dealer. I will post pics tomorrow.

Right now the same car can't be found online anywhere for under $70k. I've been looking for 09 C2S Cab with PDK and they go for over $75k. Too bad my budget is $60k

I saw a couple of 09 C2S cab for $79900. But nothing for <$72T. Maybe wait for a couple of months and see market conditions.

I basically waited 9 months to get into an 09 just because I did not want to spend that much money. Luckily, my car maintained its value and the 09 depreciated alittle bit still.

Congrats on the upgrade. I came close to picking up 08 C2S but it wasn't my dream car (09 C2S Cab with PDK). How much did they give you for your car?

I don't own a P-car right now but I think, no, I KNOW it will be worth the wait. I figure once the 991 comes out, prices will drop as more 997.2 will come to the market with cars coming off leases as well. The downturn in the stock market this week I'm sure has caused some jitters as well. The used car market right is a sellers market right now. I guess I will have to wait for prices to drop.

Basically, I lost about $1000 in 9 months.

They bought it for what I paid for it including 9 months payment, minus $1000.

Right now, a 08 C2S sells for $65-70 with low miles at least. They bought it above $60. My financing is thru Porsche for 1.9% then.

I got a good deal with mine 9 months ago, and when I figured out this deal, it was worth the upgrade.

Other dealership was giving me $55000 for it.

BTW,

911's are not like other high end cars.

You need to watch the market, selling price is not only determined by depreciation, miles and condition, it is also by how much dealers are able to sell the cars. Meaning how much others are will to buy them.

I got my car for $60 in October 2010, now I was able to TRADE it above my buying price. Since I had 1.9%, I had equity in it, which I used as dp.

Look at cars.con, autotrader and ebay weekly to see the trend, that's what I did.

I'm actually looking at all those plus craigslist, swapalease, leasetrader, Porsche website, at least 5 dealers websites on a DAILY basis. My wife thinks I'm obsessed with it. Maybe I am. people say that part of the enjoyment of owning a P-car is the hunt.

That may be true to an extent but at some point you would rather be behind the wheel of a 911 than in front of a computer screen. Like I said before, every day you go without a 911 is one day of your life you will never recover to drive this automobile. When you get one you will know what I mean. Until then good luck with your search

I think with the recent S&P downgrade of the US and the economic uncertainty, we may be on the verge of another used car pricing collapse similar to what we saw in 2008/09. As such, I would wait unless you really need to buy right now.

You go crazy looking for a car at cars.com or ebay. I went thru it also. Worst is when you find one, it is 1000 miles away from you. If you have a trade, then it is much worst. I was lucky as the car I liked is 300 miles away.

I think the 08's will maintain its value much better than the 09 since depreciation has hit it longer.

My 10cent is this,

If you are wanting a 991, then get into an 08, wait 3 years then trade into a CPO 991. Save the extra money so that you will have a 991 in 3 years.

If you dont plan on trading in the next 3 years, get an 09 now as you will not be to far off a 991, I think, and you will be happy to drive one for another 5 years or more.

I dont usually trade in every 2-3 years, I keep my cars longer. I was just given this opportunity to upgrade and make thesame payments monthly.

My ideal car as mentioned before would be/is 997.2 C2S CAB with PDK. Since the first year for this car is 09, they are out of my budget.

I passed on a 08 C2S MT for $51k which I'm kicking myself for not jumping on it now. I was being close minded since I only wanted an 09. I could have bought that one and traded it later for an 09 with $15k equity built in since the market price on them are about $66k+. That's a whole another story.

I'm not worried about driving myself crazy as I know my budget is well below what they are currently going for. I'm just hoping that I'll find a deal like the one I passed on would be an 09.

Thanks for the feedback and input.

I have been planning to take pics since I got the car but I have not cleaned any of my cars for over a month since we are only allowed 2 x a week to wash cars in our area due to the drought.

Wednesday is my wash day I will take pics then.

997.2 C4S 09 Cream White

12000 mi

Options:

Cream white
Manual
Bose
Nav
BT
Ipod conn
XM
Sport chrono plus
Full Black Leather
Power seat package
Rocker panel painted
Porsche crest headrest
Heated seats
Ventilated seats
Parking assist
PASM
Wheel caps colored crest
Dynamic cornering lights

I haven't driven an 997.2 C2S, but compared with my 08 c2s, I like the daily driving feel of the AWD. The rear end is not loose. I don't feel it is a heavier car compared with a c2, but it is much better planted in the road.

I like to speed up in the corners with my c2s but there is some sense of the rear end fighting with grips, and my tires are BNEW. BUt if you press the gas, it feels to gets planted more.

But the c4s is totally balance for me, in my opinion, for my use. We all have different use of the car. But I do not agree that the C2s is more fun to drive.
I am a convert to a C4 and I will definitely get a C4 in my next porsche.

And again, I love the manual tranny. My first cars where manual transmission and I am happy to be back. I sometimes get bored with my SMG, I mastered it already, its feeling like an automatic transmission without a brain.

I will post pics wednesday.

Stick with your budget, get the options you really need and want and do the daily hunt.

When you get your car, it would be well worth the wait.

There is a porsche out there for you.

My next hunt would be next year, for my first ferrari.
