Grats on your new 4S!

The manual is a great tranny but as said above, either clutch all in or out. Never feather or hesitate with the pedal action. Pretty soon, your balance will kick in.

Best!

You'll do fine! I have driven and love manuals for years and I am getting used to the 911 clutch. Don't sweat it! I am probably going to take some DE classes to learn more about my car and its capabilities.

I would search youtube for some videos on how to drive a manual. For example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txRTo5eAwrM

Maybe a stupid question (and not to hijack the thread), but I'm a newbie to manual driving also. If the clutch is always fully in or fully out, how do you, say, back slowly out of the garage, or maneuver into a parking space? I feel like I have to have the clutch in partway, balanced against the gas, to keep in control of the car without stalling.

Gorgeous car, by the way!

I agree with you on that - no other way to do it.

I think he's saying that when you're shifting gears while moving, don't spend too much time lingering with the clutch only partly engaged.

That's one beautiful car. You'll get the hang of manual shifting in no time, just keep practicing, Porsches can take the abuse.

Are you driving with the sport button on or off? I felt like the throttle was slightly "delayed" with the button off, and this behavior was unusual for me since I came from another car that had throttle response similar to the sport mode's. For a new manual driver, I think driving with the button off may be easier.

I have been driving with it both on and off.... Whether I was in the mood to be a little louder or not... I hadn't really noticed much of a difference, but I will pay more attention to it.... Thanks for your suggestion
FYI I'm not stalling out anymore, and a don't smell the clutch burning after driving, so it's definitely getting better
