Nice looking cars, they should of known that driving in a pack leads to more attention and racing in that scenario is lots of risk

Shows that having rich parents that buy you stuff doesn't mean you are any more responsible than the kid that worked for summers and nights to buy his used Geo Metro.

In fact, since its handed to you, you probably have less responsibility.

Works for me. Whats the problem.
Getting to 125mph is not a slip of the toe.

Out on an open highway is one thing, but where there are driveways, buildings and sidewalks, its gross negligence. Taking the car is the right approach.. its the only way to get the attention of the pinheads that own and pay for such toys (to them).

Or we could take the Swiss approach and set fines at levels matching the wealth of the family. Ok, keep the car. We will fine you $300,000. That works too. Taking the car is just quicker and a sure collection.

It speaks to the saying shirt sleeves to shirts sleeves in three generations.

First generation sacrifices everything to build a business.

Second generation see's how hard their parents worked, continues to work, but allows themselves to enjoy some of the fruits of their labor.

Third generation views it as a birth right and pisses it all away.

Here's to the third generation getting out of the way!

This gets to the question/dilemma of how fast one should drive a 911 on public roads.

I agree that, no matter what, safety has to be a big consideration and there are circumstances where we absolutely have to stay within speed limits.

But what about those open highways or lonely country roads, when no one else is around? How fast is too fast in a car that can top out at over 180 mph? Again, I'm not condoning doing anything dangerous, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has seen triple digits.

If we never engage in "spirited" driving, I kinda don't see the point of having a 911. One could say save the speed for the track, but the reality is that the vast majority of 911s will spend nearly all of their life on public roads.

My recent ticket, the first in about 15 years or so, I got pulled over on a pleasant sunny morning as I made an effort to get past the cement mixer driving along, knowing they always drop rocks and bits along the interstate at 60mph. (I've got the busted VW N Beetle windscreen to prove it).

The cop pulls me right over and declares, "The speed limit went from 70 to 60 about mile back, did you not see the sign?" Me: "Sorry, no.. I never passed any speed limit sign, I just came up the onramp about 120 yards back just around the bend there." I'd managed to get it into the 80's with the intention of getting past and back to around 70 in short order. doh. Well at least the writeup was only for 5 over the limit. Its the user fee I'm willing to pay.

5 over doesn't sound too bad. It may get a little more expensive for our little speeders, here's an update.

This is so wrong. Parents are at fault and those kids should be sent behind bars to learn a lesson.
I own a 911 and my kids' first car will be a FORD or civic.

My parents gave me a rusted out Nova as my first car and I was thrilled to have it. Later they told me they felt if I had the worst looking car out of my group of friends, I would less likely the one driving when we eventually got pulled over.

A bit harsh, don't you think, send them behind bars???? Really, they are teenagers and they acted like one. I did not read anyone being killed, in fact, I did not read anything but witness say they were speeding. If everyone was thrown in jail for speeding then we will have a very very crowded prison. They don't look like normal exotics to me, it could just sound like they were speeding, heard of aftermarket exhaust. So what if they they off a bit fast, you wouldn't be cruising at 30mph either if you drove an exotic, they are teenagers too, acted pretty normal to me. The only thing they are guilty of is they were born rich and spoiled. Don't sound too bad to me.

If I had the means and if my son is responsible, I have no problem with them driving my Lambo or Ferrari, in fact I would encourage it, this is what you get if you work hard. Different parenting, there isn't a right or wrong. Now if these kids were really racing, ran a red light, and killed an entire family. I would say execute them on the spot. So far, I have not read anything that bad. Is there a new article I have not read? Point me to it.
