Just bought a used '06 C4S cab to replace wife's '07 C2 Cab that got totalled.

On the drive back from TX noticed that there was no TPMS on the multi-function.

figured '06's didn't have them (and was bummed)

When I got home I took a good look at the manual and it says its there. Tried again, all the same as the '07 except the "sport chron" prompt but no TPMS.

searched the forums today and saw a thread that indicated it was added later in the '06 model run.

Build date is 4/6/06, should it have it? If it does, why can't I find it?

if you cycle through your speedometer display and its' not there, then you don't have it. It was optional in 2006. You can use an online VIN decoder to verify you car was not optioned with it if you wish.

Too bad, I really liked that feature as well as the low tire prompt, (wife never pays attention).

Is there a way to add it in the future? Realize I would need to buy the 4 sensors, but would my existing electronics support it .

I doubt the P system can be added - not only requires the sensors in the wheels (easy to do) but receivers at all 4 wheel wells plus the wiring to get the info to the dash...but I guess anything can be done for a price.

 

I suspect to retro fit OEM would be cost prohibitive but there are plenty of after market solutions that are relatively easy to install and are cost effective. Do a search on the internet. You'll be amazed at the choices.

You know I'm surprised that given the mandate in the US for all cars to have it by 2004 that Porsche didn't just include it in all there cars back then. Their system must be fairly costly to warrant not including it at least on all North American bound cars.
