Leather Console
looks great Ken !
$700 is an awesome price for the upgrade !
new leather will prob never 'perfectly' match the 5 year old leather..
question: looking at the pic, it appears as if the stitching is off..
tell me that's just the way the pic was taken..
just like me, i know u can't stand that if it is the actual stitching mistake.

The stitching is a little off there. It is in a location that I don't view often, and I decided to let go of my obsessive compulsive attitude and accept slightly less than perfection. The alternative was to pay much more. I have to believe that the compound curves are a bear to deal with.

Since I know you can't leave things alone Ken.....I have been looking for your next mod........LOL
Ken,
I doubt anyone, other than an obsessive Porsche owner, would've noticed the stitching "imperfection." I think the overall look is awesome and I applaud you for finding a cheaper alternative to the overpriced factory cost.

i was just asking about something which i wasnt sure whether it was odd stitching or odd angle of the picture
the odd stitching is in plain to see in the pic.. i m surprised u didnt notice it... its pretty obvious.
anyways, if Ken is ok with it, it doesn't bother me at all.
I recently removed my console and had it and my shifter frame covered in leather to match the full leather interior on my 06 C2S cab. The plastic console had become marked up a little, as well as the front of the shifter frame right by the little storage pocket at the bottom of the PCM center stack. The ashtray lid had to be shaved to allow for thickness of the leather. They also covered the filler piece that fits in the emergency brake slot. I sent the switch for the cab top control so he could ensure the leather didn't interfere with it.
The leather match isn't perfect, as the texture is more pronounced and the color is slightly lighter (stone gray), but I think it looks so much better than the plastic console. I considered having it painted, but thought with the full leather interior the leather console would look even better.
I had it done by Classic 9 Leather Shop in Michigan.

I'm very pleased with the new look. Here are some photos.

What color stiching did you specify to match the OEM stiching of the stone grey?
for what it's worth, I've seen the same "striations" in OEM consoles.

I don't intend to add any more leather to the car. I'm happy with what I have. Are you saying the steering column didn't come out well?

Understood. For the same reason, I've often wondered why people spend a fortune ordering their cars with leather fuse covers, coat hooks, etc. To me, the cost benefit is questionable for things that are not very noticeable.
