When I had my PDK C2S, 1st gear could be a little jerky in Sport mode, but was pretty good in Normal mode. In Sport Plus, everything is jerky...

If your driving aligns with the setting your are in (Sport, Sport Plus) I found the shifts in all gears are just fine.

Did my first autox this weekend, played around with different modes and had my fastest time in sport+ auto
thanks, seems Porsche is doing a tad better with the new technology. i was an early adopter with the VW GTI and have since tried various dual clutch set-ups but i haven't been fully happy yet.

the 458 is a dual clutch. the latest Ferrari (F430) single clutch auto i drove was actually pretty smooth, but i did the shifting. it seems to get really bad in auto mode.

I love the GTS. I made the considered decsion to go with GTS instead of the 991. I am thrilled with my GTS. It is the ultimate street 997 911 short of the full track orientated GT3 series Carreras and Turbos. Also the fact it was produced in far fewer numbers then the other 911s makes it a keeper in my mind.

As someone here said. Newer isn't always better.

"I believe the sport suspension is standard on all GTS models...."

No. PASM is standard on all S (including GTS) models. Sport PASM (aka "SPASM") is an option, not standard, on the coupes. I'm not sure if it's available on Cabs (I think not but I'm not certain.)

PASM's ride height is 1 cm lower than the standard spring suspension on a base Carrera. SPASM rides 1 cm lower than PASM.

If the car has PASM or SPASM the suspension is always in "active" mode. If you activate the SPASM sport setting (the little light with the shock absorber symbols activates) then the suspension gets a bit firmer. Whether that light is on or off, the suspension remains "active."

My PDK experience today

I am currently driving a 2011 GT3 and am thinking of returning to a C4S (that statement alone should start the threads flying!). I too fell victem to all the PDK press and stopped by my local dealer and they let me drive a PDK GTS with Sport Chrono, PASM, etc. Only - and I mean only- when I put the PDK in full manual mode with the Sport settings on did I enjoy it, but admit I'm still a tad or more underwhelmed by the experience. I had honestly hoped to fall in love with it. In 'put it in D and go' mode, I found it unpleasant in many ways...sluggish, shifting WAAAAY to slow and too soon to the point where revs would fall too far, and when it shifted into 1st at a stop if was clunky and abrupt. The 'automatic' transmission in my AMG CLK 63 Black Series - in either comfort, sport or manual is better in a thousand ways. The salesman told me (first warning) that the PDK would 'learn' my driving style and get better with time. So, at least for the 10 miles or so I drove it, it was a disappointment for me and that was not the experience I had hoped for.

I had a PDK C4S for a year. Realistically, with a car with PDK, one tends to drive in automatic mode 90% of the time and downshift at times with the buttons. I find the car upshifts so early that I would be going 38 mph in 7th gear all the time, thus necessitates the manual shifting often. I sold it a year later and got a plain Carrera S manual. So much more fun and responsive. I knew then that PDK in a 911 is not for me. Now I got a manual GTS along with my 4.0. Cannot be happier!

with SPASM option you also get an OEM LSD in your gearbox - it makes it a greatest option with a lot of value.

You live in Hell-A. Are you in stop and go traffic more often than not? This is my daily existence going to and from work.

I drove the GTS with PDK and no SPASM although it did have LSD. Great car and I liked the option list. It was Basalt Black/Black with manual sport seats. Today I found a Black/Black GTS 6 speed with Aero, SPASM and heated/cooled comfort seats. The black with aero looks fantastic. Price wise they are the same. Both with $10K off. I think I'll take the aero kit one out tomorrow.

I may have a bunch of parts for sale, see signature, if I get a GTS. The dealer wants my 09 C2S back to stock.

Test drove the GTS. But, I'm not that guy who changes cars every couple of years. It was a lot faster then my car but hell my car is still pretty fast. It still puts a smile on my face every time I get in. If I had a choice, I'd go with the GTS. The first run of every new model always has some kind of bugs. Who like bugs when you can get the last end run totally refined.
