dealer miles

That is a bit unreasonable. You should get a discount, more than you normally would. It is "used" despite what they may tell you.

If you really want that car then maybe something can be done about an extended warranty?
I had 500 miles on my car when I purchased it new and it's driving me crazy about how those miles were driven prior to the break in period....

Dealer miles can be hard miles. I test drove a new GTS and the sales person couldn't wait to show me launch control. The car had only 21 miles on it -- hardly broken in. Rule of thumb, the less "dealer miles" -- the better. 1300 miles is excessive. Bid 10k under their asking price.

Agreed. Peace of mind is priceless. There are a lot of GTS's if you expand your search...and even the 991

Just picked mine up after leaving at the dealer's for a month, before I could fly and drive it back (currently in route....somewhere east of Albuquerque now). When I drove/bought it = 98 miles. Yesterday at pickup = 148 miles. Now it did go to get tint and a clear bra, but I thought that was a few "extra miles" too many...hope there was no launch control tests!

This should definitely be hugely discounted, especially considering that Porsche is offering at least 5k, maybe 10k in trunk money to dealers on new cars. A buddy bought a 124/125k GTS a couple of months ago with 1,000 miles (if I remember the exact number correctly) for i think 101k. There was a 133k car in OH with 900 that was listed on their website for 105k. So definitely bargain hard.

At 1300 miles, it's not new no matter what they call it or what the technical definition of new is. Where did they test drive it to, Miami??
Assuming you bargain hard to a price you like, I still wouldn't buy it without a DME scan. Sorry to raise that controversial topic again but I think even the guys who think it has little value would agree that bouncing off the rev limiter in the first 1200 miles is different than at, say, 20k.

Thanks for the input. The appeal of the car is that is there, now, and might be gotten at an attractive price that might offset the hard test drive miles. I am definitely on the fence about getting a 991 S instead but I am feeling impatient and gun-shy about first-year cars. I don't really want another turbo or a GT2/3.

A car like this is a perfect candidate for a lease. Is leasing an option for you?
