Somebody said they thought the wheels on my new 997 S Cab looked huge. I did too, so I compared diameters with the 18s on the 996.

997 Carrera S

Front 235/35/19 = 25.5" diameter
Rears 295/30/19 = 26.0" diameter

996 TT

Front 225/40/18 = 25.1" diameter
Rears 295/30/18 = 25.0" diameter

No wonder they look so big!

Kurt,
what about the CS in comparsion? those cars including the 997s were designed based on 19''s in the very beginning.

True. I guess what surprised me was how the overall diameter jumped so much on the 997. I'm used to going to a much lower profile when I go up a wheel size, in order to keep the overall diameter the same as stock.

Like on my Turbo, I went to 235/35/19 and 315/25/19, and I think this kept the overall diameters pretty close to stock.

I just checked on the 360 versus CS, and here's what I got:

360

215/45/18 = 25.6" diameter
275/40/18 = 26.7" diameter

CS

225/35/19 = 25.2" diameter
285/35/19 = 26.9" diameter

Closer than the the 997 is to the 996.
