Got new shoes - Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Hi all,
Just put on a new set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport and so far I'm very happy about these tires. Road holding is very good and the best of all is the tires are much more quieter than my original PS2s.
Just a question, the tread on the inside of my old tires was worned more significantly than the outside. I was told the car was set up to have negative camber thus the inside would wear out much faster. Is that accurate?
On a side note, I placed the order on Tirerack yesterday and got the tires this morning. Can't say enough about the timeliness of the shipping!
Jeff

yes.
To OP:
The car is set up for handling - increased negative camber makes the car handle a bit better when cornered aggressively. It wears out the insides of the tires, particularly in back.
You can have your alignment changed to reduce or virtually eliminate the negative camber. The tires will wear more evenly and you'll get more miles from them. The car won't handle as well when driven aggressively.
Those are your choices. If there's a third option -- it probably involves a different car altogether!
If it's any consolation, I've gone through a full set of 4 tires in 2500 miles. THAT's what aggressive driving (actually, 5 track days) can do to a set of tires. But boy, did I have fun.
