Replacing sheared wheel lock

All,

I just had my rear tires replaced on my '06 997 C2. Upon trying to remove the lock lug, the technician sheared off the key portion of the lock. They were able to remove the lock lug and replace both rears. Now, I'm missing a lock lug on each side because the key has been sheared. Instead of removing all the lock lugs and potentially damaging my wheels, is there a way to get a replacement key made from the existing lugs that I was able to remove?

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

Swap the wheel locks out for regular bolts, or you need a complete new set of wheel locks.

Personally I can't stand wheel locks, more of a PIA then anything else IMO.

Porsche does sell a set of lock lugs and the key.....I know it's not the most cost effective way at around $80.00, but maybe the shop that damaged your key can pay for the replacement....Having said that, the key probably does have a specific part number for it, but I'm not sure if you can just buy the key......

Why isn't the place where you had the work done taking care of this for you (at their expense)?

I spoke to the dealership and they have a set of different keys they will try to fit. If that works, they'll replace the key.

I don't want to swap the lock lugs for regular ones, because they are HRE wheels. And, after seeing my old neighbor's Corvette sitting on cinder-blocks, I'd rather take the little bit of precaution.
