Anybody with the PCM 2.1 update CD?
I have a 2005 997S (early build) w/ NAV that came new with a 4/2004 version (North America) DVD. After going through the PCM upgrade discs (to level 3.0) I can now use the 8/2007 version of the NAVTEQ DVD. I believe that is the latest that will run on my PCM. Mind you I have the initial 997 PCM hardware (ie. no phone capabilities and MP3 h/w decoding). I don't recall when Porsche went to hard drive NAV. Might be w/ the 997.2 (2009?). So if you have a DVD NAV you might want to check w/ Porsche to see what level of NAV DAV you can run w/ your PCM.
I bought the NAV DVD (8/2007) a few years ago. I believe it cost me a couple of hundred dollars from Porsche. It included one of the upgrade discs as well. Was it worth it . . . . maybe, maybe not.
Mp3 playback
Hey Joel,
After updating yours, were you able to successfully play an Mp3 disc on the front single cd drive?
I popped a disc with Mp3s and it says No Audio CD found.
SW versions 3.0
I'm pretty sure I updated everything. I'll try burning my own disc when I get home, but just wondering if it worked for you.

Yes, my unit now plays MP3 burned CDs... AP 997S is correct. The software doesn't add any additional features unless your hardware supports it. In my case, even that I have an early 2005 build, the PCM unit is the latest one, with the phone button. I will also suggest the dension route. I have mine with an iPod nano installed inside the trunk for endless playing!
