You definately need to do it if paint chips bother you and it needs to be done before you get any chips. If the lines will bother you get the the whole front end done. You can still see the difference in clarity and gloss of paint but for my money this is preferable looking at paint chips ,scratches, swirles in the paint, etc..... I have Invisishield on my car and there are no chips in the front end after 4 years. Worth every penny.

+1 to that as the 997 front bumper is a bear to do.

Yeah, you're right with the difference in gloss, but it depends on the color. I don't notice it on my Basalt Metallic Black car much if at all. Also, if you cover the entire front end, then you have the break where the door hinges are.. this helps because the panels aren't right up against one another to compare.

I have used Premier Mobile Group in CA. They use a 3M product and will do either kits or custom coverage. http://premiermobilegroup.com/
They are based in CA but may be worth talking with to determine if they have operations elsewhere.
The standards that Premier have set for the application of clear bras on vehicles are respected by their customers, competitors and the inquisitive lay person who ever asks about why your vehicle looks so good. The analytical attention to detail displayed to the work performed by the Premier staff is simply amazing. From the first phone call or email to get a quote, to the follow-up, the visit to the shop to leave your vehicle, the arrangement for alternative transportation and pick up of your vehicle following the application of the clear bra are second to none.
If your interested in getting any clear bra applied to your car then go somewhere else but if you want the absolute best then Premier are for you.
I just had full coverage applied to the front of a new BMW and without any doubt I am completely satisfied.
Without any hesitation I will bring all my vehicles to Premier.

They always look better bra less you know!
You are SO!! right. Then add to that you cant get a good wax on it because the clear bra is blocking that paint.

We ex BMW owners call that the "stary night option"

I'm sure it won't change your mind "stevefrommn", but the paint on your 2012 will be much, much thinner and more susceptible to chips than your 12 year old car was.. The new paints are like watercolors because of the environmental laws.

Squat there is no need to wax the paint on the covered areas. The film prevents any environmental damage. When the film is removed the paint will be as pristine as the day it was installed. A good sealant will keep the film nice and shiny.

+1 on Premier's work. I have read and heard great things about them, but they are also the most expensive by a large margin.

Just had my half-front removed. Left it on the bumper, fenders, and mirrors. I always thought it looked crappy to have that line visible, and with the way the hood slopes, I could never imagine getting stone chips there anyway.

Had my entire car custom wrapped in ventureshield. After 14k miles, it looks as pristine as it looked on day 1. It's all about finding a good installer and more importantly taking good care of the PPF once its on. I was very impressed with the self healing properties of xpel ultimate film. Check it out.

Questions About Which Clear Bra Film to Use? Seeing is Believing!

Thanks w00t!

I wanted to share a few videos that will showcase why XPEL Ultimate is the most durable film in the marketplace.

Instant Self Healing Demo:

We put a piece of our new XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film on a black painted panel, and then scratched it with a wire brush to demonstrate the world's first self healing clear bra.

Stain Resistance Demo with A Raw Egg:

In this video, we attempt to stain the XPEL Ultimate paint protection film with a permanent marker. This is important since yellowing, common to many brands of paint protection film, is caused by staining from environmental contaminants such as road oils, diesel smoke, pollen and pollution. The significance of the permanent marker is that it represents the most difficult known stain to erradicate. To top it off, we added a raw egg baked on in 100 degree weather.

Bugs Left on Surface for 2 Months:

In this video, we took a white SUV that has the full hood covered in XPEL's ULTIMATE paint protection film and didn't wash it for over two months. The SUV was stored outdoors everyday and parked under trees when ever possible.

Brake and Transmission Fluid Demo:

Once the two months had passed, we shot a video of cleaning all of the bird droppings, bugs and other contaminants off the film to show just how easy it is to keep XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film clean.

In the previous video it was marked up with a permanent marker. Here we scratched it up with a key, smeared brake fluid all over the hood and added some smeared transmission oil. Then let it sit for several hours. It all came off with regular alcohol!! The was truly amazing to witness.

Another +1. By far the best I've seen. I had two cars done by them, and on the third, I cheaped out and went with another installer (half the price), and I'm not happy at all at how it turned out. I should have just sucked it up and paid Premier to do it right the first time. I'll live with the crappy clear bra job for another year and then get it redone by Premier.
