car started after 3 months, small ticking...

Hi All,

started the car (2008, 4S) after 3 months storage. As soon as started, a lifter was ticking pretty load. ran it for 15 minutes, noise still there. the oil temp did not go passed 60 degrees. Maybe if the oil gets warmer the lifter will charge....?

Any experiences or advise?

Thanks again.

Drive your car more often...

It should go away once the oil gets up to temp. I believe this is a pretty common occurrence for 997.1s that sit longer than a week. Three months is an eternity.

If you are going to occasionally start it and then shut it down after a few minutes (or will ofen try to warm it up properly in neutral) don't. The only thing you will accomplish is to dilute the oil with contaminants and greatly increase wear on the internals. If you cannot run it on the road for 20+ minutes at normal temps every week or two do a search on how to correctly store a car for long periods and follow the instructions. If you really can't run it best to let it sleep off the winter in proper storage.
