Thanks, SToronto. I think you're right. It is tempting to compromise because the odds of finding exactly what I want seem rather long. And, there is always the possibility that someone else is thinking the same thing. As for the transmission, I am probably a traditional guy for this first Porsche (well, my has had two, but I don't count that).

By the way, your new ride is awesome.

Hi sorry for the delay in responding. I struggled over manual vs PDK until I drove the PDK. While it's not perfect as some would have you believe, it is pretty great:

The bad:

-Kind of clunky in low gears while in Sport mode. What I mean is when it shifts from 1st-2nd and back to first while in Sport it can be a little jarring. This however is completely eliminated while driving in reg mode.

-PDK = 3 different cars. Seriously.

1.) Reg mode is smooth as butter and is the daily driver "I just want to get there smoothly" mode. No jarring of shifts, no high revs and good gas MPG but completely uninspired from a performance standpoint.
2.) Sport mode is what I drive in 80% of the time I am in Auto mode. Shifts are quick, revs are solid without being offensive and it really shifts fast in the turns rarely being in the wrong gear.
3.) Sport mode plus says it's only for the track, but when I get a clear and safe area with twisties I drop it to this and Whoooahhh what a rush. Completely different car.
4.) Manual mode = bat sheet fun without the sore back or left hip pain. Honestly, PDK has everything I loved about driving my sticks and none of the crappy parts <traffic?>.

I am 100% happy with getting PDK vs a manual. Most importantly if I had to do it again I would get another and would not even consider a stick. Good luck and get what you want!

Katera, thanks for the insights. That helps because I was not really considering PDK cars before. Now I am going to check it out.

I would have all your questions answered and "must have" list chosen so that when you do find a car that meets your needs you can act quick to purchase it if all checks out

decide PDK or not
have in mind where to do PPI; if out of state ask on these forums for help. Sometimes a fellow member on these forums or local Porsche club can help check thing out.
decide on must have options; sport chrono plus, Nav or not, etc
CPO or not

997.2 values seem to be holding for now.

Good luck.

Good advice, Seapar. Thanks. It would be great to find some PCA members to check out some of these cars for me without me having to take a flight every time. Gets expensive fast and eats into my car cash.
