I took a BIG step yesterday with my 911...It was very difficult.
Thanks for your posting. I can appreciate where you are coming from.... It took me a while (and some Xanax - just kidding!) since I began to venture out in the rain. However, I found this item at Costco "CR SPOTLESS De-Ionizing Spotless Water System" and it changed my daily driving habits. Basically, you can wash the car, rinse and let it air dry. Even with a black car there is minimal spotting and you have to be very close to notice.

That's a good idea (if you're in a big parking lot and not going too crazy). Then, turn the traction control back ON and repeat what you did when it was off. This should give you some understanding of the type of assistance it provides.

Was feeling a bit bit goofy when I posted this, <but that really was my first time in the rain with my 911>
I use the Griots spray on car wash which works great for light dust and so forth as long as you use their super fluff wipe off towels. With Silver I rarely worry about swirls so it makes it easier to stomach. I have been looking for a good spot free car wash system but the good ones seem to be big $$$ and a hassle to change out filters every month.

I can totally relate. I made a decision to drive my car more this year and that includes driving it in the rain! Like you, I've avoided it and with the CA duster, I could go a long time between washes because I never took it out in the rain. It was finally warm enough to take the car out of winter storage here in MN and it was a little wet. Still cringed a little bit as I drove through puddles...
This post cracks me up...my friends seapar and w00tPORSCHE know why....I bailed out of sunday drive because of the snow....and I do it sometimes because of the rain...I guess that is why my 2009 only has 8K miles. w00tPORSCHE on the other hand keeps sending me pictures of his car after going over the pass between sanders. Makes me cringe....but he is helping me cope with my problem as well :-)
"I'm not crying, it's just been raining - on my face.
And if you think you see some tear tracks down my cheeks please don't tell my mates, I'm not cry--yuyyyyy-ing"
I avoid rain whenever I can. Snow on the other hand...
