ECU Question

I installed after-market Cobra Misano seats in my car a while back that do not have the passenger weight sensor or the thorax airbags. As a result, I get the airbag warning light on the main dash and the passenger air-bag off light on the center console. I spoke to the dealer and they assured me that the passenger airbag was active, but I'm not sure.

Does anybody know whether it's possible to reprogram the car's ECU so that it doesn't look for the thorax bags and throw an error? You can reset the error with the Durametric, but it comes back on immediately. Likewise, I want to bypass the passenger weight sensor so that I can make sure that the passenger airbag will fire all the time.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

everything is possible.
find any local race shop that deals with gt3 cars and has PIWIS - they reprogram ECU to allow installation of sport bucket seats, they will help you. in my car i do not have airbags on driver seat and do not have seatbelt chime neither.

dealer will play dumb and will never do this.

Here's what Suncoast says:
*** for models with Advanced Airbags (2006-2012), the seat airbags & weight sensor will have to be disabled by your local dealer. This will deactivate the airbag warning light on your instrument cluster.

But dealer may be reluctant to do this.

you and paul are correct.

I had it gt3 done at indy and had to sign waiver stating I understood air bag warning lights and weight sensors were disabled.
