Navigation Update CD
I would appreciate some help on this CD package I got.
I ordered an Updated CD Rom for my navigation on my 07 C4S. Thinking I was only going to get 1 CD to install in the navigation drive...I got 4 CD's.
1) PCM DVD-Navigation North America - This is the New Map CD
2) PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update CD Navigation - Updates the PCM for the new Navigation CD
3) PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update CD 1 911 Boxster Cayman
4) PCM 2.1 Multimedia Update CD 2 911 Boxster Cayman
The first 2 CD's where easy to figure out and got that done within 5 minutes. It's the last 2 CD's that I don't know what they heck they are for! I inserted them into the CD rom drive and I got an error stating that these were not audio CD's. Should these go into the Navigation CD drive for the update?
Didn't want to attempt this without asking first. Any input would be nice!!
Thanks

I got it from Suncoast but didn't think they would know, since when I asked about getting the Nav Update CD ONLY, they told me this is what you need and I got all these CD's. I guess calling them won't hurt.....I installed this morning and wanted to see if I can get the answer today and not wait till Monday.
The current level of your PCM software will dictate what update PCM CD's you'll need to load. Since you have a MY 2007 I suspect your PCM level is already at 3.0 and most likely Model Level 'B' or possibly 'C'. The Upgrade package should have come w/ the Porsche 'Installation & Conversion Instructions' Service 32/07 that explains the update process and what levels of software are affected.
If you don't that document PM me w/ your email address and I'll send you a PDF of it. I did the upgrade on my MY2005 years back (2009) so my recollection is a bit rusty. If you're level is already at 'C' you might just be able to ignore all the PCM updates and simply insert the NAV DVD in the player.
Unless you use the NAV on a regular basis or live in an area that wasn't on the older NAV DVD I suspect you'll be disappointed after throwing the $300 at this 'update'. I was!

I've just updated my 2005.
I had three discs - the first (I think it was titled multimedia update CD1) was inserted into the CD drive and brought me up to level 'B'. The second (titled CD2) was only for cars with telephones. THe third (Nav update) had to be run from the Nav DVD drive.
I'm still on a 2008 mapset and haven't decided whether to fork over $300 for an updated map yet.

I'm sure you already know this, but make sure the car is running (or plugged into a battery tender) the whole time the updates are running and do not turn off the PCM under any circumstances. You can brick the unit by turning it off at the wrong time.
Yes ....I made sure power stayed on. The update was good for me on the Nav...there is a new hwy by my home and now it shows up. I will have to check out the other 2 CD's and see if they will work. Funny thing though...I'm looking at the new Pioneer Avic head unit to install and have the camera as well.
For now...I will use what I got.
