flat surfaces seems to get away with the cheap look... they actually look nice... lots of curves could bring cheap to a new level. Also, if you ever get any real carbon fiber part (shiftknob, handbrake, etc) they will clash against the vinyl stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. Actually, if I go carbon it will be actual carbon fiber, not the 3M stuff. Still weighing my options.

if you wrap the console in real carbon, make sure is the 1x1 twill texture to match the OEM carbon...

Keep us posted if you paint. I may eventually do this. The thin coating that Porsche likes to use on the plastic parts looks/feels great for a short time. Then it starts attracting scratches and looks bad in a hurry. Mine is OK for now. A year or so from now I'll probably want to do something about it. I like the painted look and also leather. I can do 70% of the work for the painted console myself just farming out the final spray to a good shop I know that will squeeze it in between jobs. Somebody recently posted a leather option in the Detroit area that was very reasonable.

BTW - Removing the console is easy and you should have no problem driving the car without it during the process.
