997.2 - Phone Option Question

Just purchased a '09 997.2 C2 and it has a really weird leather mount looking thing next to the radio. I'm assuming that this was a factory cell phone mount, but it kind of looks like a Kuda mount too. Wondering if this was a factory option and if I need some type of additional part to use it?

Thanks in advance...

I posted the same question awhile back when I was shopping for my 997.2. I had one response that said it was a factory option. I eventually bought a car without it but if I had purchased with that option I would have removed it immediately. Something you could ask the dealer about.

I'm taking the car in for service on Monday and will ask - but I'm actually leaning toward keeping it - particularly if I can find a cradle for the mount that will fit my iphone.

I'm guessing that's what it was - unfortunately, handset is missing (not like I'd use it anyway...) Dealer was pretty clueless about it.

I'm debating removing it all together but I'm guessing I need another dash panel. God knows how much that will cost.

It's for a handset...........it came with my 06. I guess the dealer ordered it and he didn't want to remove it and it didn't metter to me so it stayed.

Yep, that's the one - many thanks on helping me confirm that it is indeed a factory option. I wonder if anyone actually has one of these in use...?
