Does anyone know or experience there is a very low frequency noise when the car idles. Also the noise repeats faster as you are about to take off every single time. It is very difficult for me to describe the noise to other people as most of them say they can't hear or notice any, but I certainly do hear that every time when I stop at a light. To me the noise is from behind but I can't be 100%.

 

Once I had a vehicle that did that and it was the mic for the bluetooth/onstar... When I put my ear to it you knew for sure.... replaced mic and it was corrected.

 

I gave it another try and it almost sounds like some sort of fan. It would accelerate as I put my foot on the gas paddle. I am gonna try it again later and make sure all the audio devices are turned off.

does it make the noise when the key is on accessory but engine off?

 

It doesn't if the engine is not on. I will go out to drive a bit more and see if I can locate where the noise comes from.
