Anyway, this is an interesting idea! Looking forward to seeing it on your car (with the rebuilt engine).

I just had a thought... what about painting these headlight-housings body color with the clear coat? Might be an interesting look (although I prefer the stock look on my car, for now).
Painting body color remind me of F360 modena style. I've seen the done on Jap car and I didn't really like it. But... who knows It might look good on 997. Maybe after I get bored with black. Thanks for comment.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I've done HID retrofit and other headlight works on various cars, and always use aftermarket assemblies. Heatgun and patience worked, and rather quickly and cleanly for a good re-seal with butyl sealant. But from what you're saying, that may not work on these guys... Could you snap a close-up pic of the edge of the assembly?

Subscribed. Not enough gonads here to crack open my headlights, but I certainly want to see how these turn out once installed.

I can't tell from the pics, but did the paint cover the headlight surround area?

I don't know which part you mean.
Let's see after I put it back to the car. I'll post picture.

The gray 'ribbed' area surrounding the headlights is what I'm talking about.

Looks awesome. I did custom work on my E60 M5 lights including Orion V2's, custom gloss black housings, white eyebrows and Lamborghini Orange flanges. Ill post picks. Don't listen to the guys comparing it to other cars. It's your car and you should build it to your liking! Nice work and I appreciate you taking a risk!!

Looks good but "Ricer" & "Porsche" should never be used in the same sentence.

I don't know why any paint mods have to be linked to rice in the first place. Euro cars benefit from little mods too.

Anyway, I love mine except I went with titanium gray paint instead of black.

JCD911S - Thank you so much for the pic, this looks good! I am still looking for a black or dark headlight on a black 997...just want to have more comfort before I take to the shop for mod....
