What LSD not standard?

I'm looking to sell my 2011 M3 and get into a 997S. Yes, I know, what was I thinking buying a new M3 only to have buyer's remorse. This is my third M3 and each generation has less "feel" than the last. It's become too big and too heavy IMO. What does surprise me is that my $70K M3 comes std with an LSD and the 997S does not. What's worse is it's virtually impossible to find a 997S with an LSD. Can you guys tell me if the std diff imitates an LSD? Is it good for autocross events? I live in SoCal so I'm less worried about traction in poor weather conditions but do care about how it influences the behavior of the car through corners.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Would love to hear an answer to this.
I had a Z4 M Coupe and same story here.
But I've got my 997.1S now and love how it handles but I have not had the car on a track to really compare to how a car with LSD compares.

PSM acts as a pseudo-LSD, which is part of why Porsche did not include an LSD on the 997S. There's no locking or torque transfer to the higher grip wheel, but PSM will brake the inside wheel(s)? on a turn if it detects too much slip. I still find PSM too intrusive for autocross so I turn it off and live without any LSD functionality. In general, the stock car will understeer a bit but I'm not good enough yet where I think I really *need* an LSD.
