Question about New P-car orders

For some reason I want to believe that there is some online way to monitor or follow your new car order thru to domestic delivery. Am I wrong about that? Does it require cooperation of dealership?

The dealership can follow progress of the car through manufacture and shipment. Not accessible to outside parties. I believe that this is through a PCNA network. When the car is ordered by the dealership, they should be able to get an immediate printout of the order details. Your salesman should be able to keep you informed of progress.
