2006 997CS Price Check

Nice car. Low miles. just under 19K.
Lightly optioned. Sticker was orginally 89,900.
clean car fax.
Im yet to see the DME report but the car appears honest and clean.
I happened to be at the Porsche dealer when it was traded in and I saw it in "as traded" condition. Car will be certified.
I inquired about price and was told $60,000

Seems very steep to me. Glaves says $46,000 as do many other online price guides.

Unfortunately the car IS nice. I just think the price is out of wack.

I orginally went to the dealer to look at an 09 base with 54,000 miles on the clock. That they are asking 54 for.

I think a realistic price is somewhere in the middle of those two.
$60K is definitely high and I think $46K is rather low.
My guess is that you're looking at about $52-$54K with CPO.

Yeah - that's high, but I'd probably be willing to pay $55K for a car that felt "right" and was CPO'd. I personally think you can tell a lot from the paint... a car that was truly cared for will look that way. And generally someone who takes care of the paint also takes care of maintenance. Even better if that dealership has service records, etc.

Yes & no. I've seen cars that were hanger queens and parked in the garage 98% of their life. But the 2% they were out, the owner beat the snot out of it, didn't know how to drive it correctly and didn't always keep up the mechanical maintenance. Seeing the DME report and service records are the only way to know for sure, and make sure it has a clean Carfax.

If it were me, I would still seriously consider the 09. 54K miles is nothing on these cars if it was properly cared for. For less money you get the DFI injection system and the PDK trans versus Tiptronic unless it is a 6sm. Though the 06's were much improved you can still have IMS bearings issues, the 09's dont have those problems. There are other areas of improvement too like LED lighting, sound system, etc and it's 3 years newer. If you don't put a lot of miles on the 09, in a few years it will still be worth more than the 06 unless you can get it for mid-40's.

I hear all that. Good advice. Thanks.

The 09 is a 6SM and its BASIC. Has heated and ventilated seats. Thats it.

good food for thought.
