Absurd article. I've had mine since new and it's been perfectly reliable. I changed the alternator cable for < $500 including parts and labor and recently the water pump. Nothing to write about as more mundane cars have cost me much more to repair.

Was this "problem" redesigned on the '07 and newer cars?

I have a 2006 991S and I only had/have two problems. One was the coolant tank which cracked and a slow crank when the engine is hot, although it always starts up. Maybe there is something to the article.

Article may have been influenced by Consumers Reports data ( see images ) .... one has to wonder on the water pump ... few vehicles these days have water pump issues ( I work in auto parts business - have access to sales data - wish more cars had problems ... sorry - my profit motive is showing ..:-)

Limited data on Porsche - use CR with caution ...

I have to agree. If I am reading the last chart correctly, CR rates the audio system better than average. Really? LOL
