Double din is twice the height and the same width as a single din..DIN is a universal size standard so that head units in your car are interchangeable...the most common sizes for cars sold in the US are Din; Din and 1/2 and double din..they are all the same width but differ in height..Double Din being the largest.

double din looks out of wack on the car, too much plastic around it and you lose the flawless OEM look!!!

You do realize an OEM 997.1 PCM is double din size behind the plastic bezel, including that stupid cell phone keypad?

OP: buy this double DIN trim http://www.suncoastparts.com/product..._Interiorradio

Then you could go with just about any high end aftermarket head unit. I recommend keeping your stock parts for reinstallation prior to selling your car.

I've seen some pretty nice double DIN installs on 997s. Depending on the double DIN bezel used they look pretty OEM-Like.

Agreed. I think stock looks great.

When I was driving my 911 the only time I had the radio on was during bumper to bumper traffic. I honestly could have cared less about radio working because driving the car was so much fricking fun everyday.
