I purchased a set of already modified "Gundo" mufflers from another 6speeder, and installed them yesterday. The install process was straightforward. There are plenty of write ups on how to do this.

The only major issue that I ran into was rust on the bolts holding the clamps/sleeves at the cat. I had sprayed all 6 muffler hanger bolts and the 4 bolts on the sleeves to the cats with PB Blaster and let it sit overnight. The next morning the bolts on the cat sleeves were still totally frozen. Another hit with PB Blaster, and a scrubbing with a wire brush helped. I had to use a breaker bar on one bolt.

One of the 3 muffler hanger bolts on each side is really hard to get to. I found that to get to the rear most bolt, if I lay on my back under the engine, and run the ratchet to the bolt horizontally above the exhaust manifold from the wheel well, that I could guide the ratchet with my hand from underneath and get enough leverage to move the wrench without stripping the bolt.

Once I got everything dis-assembled I backed all bolts all the way off, cleaned the threads really well and used anti-seize on the threads for re-installation.

When re-attaching the muffler hanger to the new exhaust, I did put the two muffler hanger vertical bolts back in upside down to make removal later easier (to convert back to stock). In the future Instead of removing those three small horizontal bolts to remove the entire hanger, I can just remove the 2 vertical bolts holding 1/2 of the hanger. I did make sure that I could get an open ended wrench to the top of these bolts once installed. I was worried about clearance in the future making this step a waste of time.

I'd estimate the entire process took 2 hours total and this includes swapping out to my winter wheels and inspecting brake pads, etc. I was going slow and not trying to snap or round off any rusted bolts.

The sound is great with the 2" cross over pipes. No drone at all, great startup sound, and on WOT the car comes alive. It sounds very nice on my 2006 C2.

This is a great easy mod. Difficulty is about 4 of 10 (with no rust on bolts, this would be a 2 of 10). For those on the fence, do it, you can't go wrong.
