991 vs GTS
Well, I drove back to back yesterday, GTS coupe (PDK, sport suspension) and then a 991S (PDK with PDCC). OK, to me being 6'3", it was hands down that I liked the 991S better when you factor in interior room. The GTS was great, don't get me wrong (Carrara white with all the goodies), but for me to move from a 997S, the 991 just makes more sense in terms of a change. The GTS definitely felt more raw, a bit more reckless, and looks great in white with the wide body. I'll also say the sport exhaust isn't nearly as impactful as it is on the 991 - they really opened up the exhaust on the 991. Both cars are great, and fast with PDK - but the PDK even felt different on the 991, like it was a little quicker responding, but that could just be the feel. I'd say if I had a 997.1 a GTS would make more sense. If you haven't driven a PDK 991S with PDCC and the PSE, I recommend you do so.
I love how common this dilemma is amongst Porsche enthusiasts ... This is like the Obama/Romney debate of 911's.

Just bought a low mileage 2012 GTS, I never even considered a 991.
This is my second 997, I previously owned a 07 C4S Cabriolet which I would track 2 to 3 times a year. Main reason for getting into a GTS was its trackability (if that's a word) and its every day use....can't wait to try it out on a RACE Track.

Does anyone know the precise package options included in the GTS package? Besides the powerkit, which is the obvious one? Partial Alcantara (seats and wheel) SEEMS to be included, but can also be deleted. If anyone has a link or can post that would be great. I've done searches and come up with nothing. Thanks

My recent choice is very relevant to this discussion. Cutting to the chase, I opted for the GTS. That said, I whole-heartedly agree the 991S is probably the better car on paper; but putting these two cars side by side, it was an easy decision for me.
The 991S is a fantastic car, and one I would certainly have been happy with, but the GTS is in a category all its own. Where the 991S is the clean-cut, jock with the pretty girl-friend and a scholarship to Princeton... The GTS is the street-wise bare-knuckler who will not only kick your ***, but also your big-brother's... AND steal your girlfriend.
I'm 6'2". The 991S was more comfortable... but I can't say the GTS is uncomfortable.
Both cars sound awesome to me.
I prefer the 997.2 center stack to the new Cayenne style.
The centerlock wheels are awesome. I get comments on these everywhere I go.
