You don't need to buy a new key. Just the case.
About $30 at the parts counter. You can even u[date to a 997.2 case.
You can update to the newer case but much more than $30 plus you have to switch out the transponder chip from the old case to the new case.

I was told by my dealer you could buy just the plastic case.
Not a new remote.
The $150-180 was for a new case with board.

anyway update, dealer says they will not cover it under warranty, because they think i dropped the key. which of course i did not. but whatever. they tried to fit some buttons in but they were the 997.1 buttons from the grey key and wouldn't work. so not much luck. using the other key for now. sucks.

Dealer salesman or parts guy? I don't think the plastic case is a separate part...and even if it were, you'ld still have to transfer the remote circuit board and transponder from old case to new case. Your "dealer" is giving you bogus info. Ask your parts guy if he can order a case for you.
