Your client needs to shop for a Chevy or Ford to get that smooth as butter sound. He does not deserve to own a P-car.

Whoever this poor client was I now feel sorry for him.... This is like picking on the "'slow kid" back in school.

This type or of person falls into the "does it have cup holders" category. Not to worry I told him "A Porsche is not for everyone, I do have a 2011 M3 that was traded in on a Carrera S and asked when he would like to come in and drive it?" Still waiting for a response.

Question

well well.....

while there is some entertainment value here....maybe
keeping it in the office would have been a little more professional?
I'm still kind of confused as to why you are mocking
this customer on a forum...and posting private emails
from a 'prospective client'? very odd ball you're playing......

Wow, Rotes. You are absolutely correct. I didn't even see this angle and just jumped into the "Monday morning laughs." I feel bad now...

You should have mentioned that, as with most things Porsche... It's a $3k option to sound good ;-)

Yeah he'll love that lol. Driving a M3 is like driving a truck compared to the 997S, especially manual v manual. I see traded-in M3s at Porsche dealers all the time. Perhaps he'd like the numb steering of a Lexus??

You'd do him a favor to steer him in the direction of the 911. It takes some driving and a little track time to appreciate what the car is capable of. Off the track, it's not overwhelming with a holy sheets effect. My brother in law has a vette, amazingly powerful and has that holy sheets effect when you punch it and it lurches, thrusting the doghouse and the rear tires breaking loose. But the vette is not a race car that has been redesigned from the track to the street.

To me the vette's power is gimmicky, less refined and wears off fast. It is not designed to make the car win a race on a track.

As far as the sound goes, I changed my sound because I wasn't impressed either. That's why the Gundo hack is such a popular mod and so many after market exhaust set ups are available. A lot of owners on this forum also seem interested in enhancing the sound of their 911's and is probably why Porsche is doing the membrane bladder sound symposer. Porsche is Teutonic, and not romantic and loud like an Italian sports car or raw and throaty like an American car. Its like a frauhlein in a girdle. Beautiful and restrained on the surface, but built for speed, fun and intense pleasure underneath. Maybe an R8 V10 might be an option for him.

RichM3 is infamous around these parts
That is ironic because a few months ago, I did the exact opposite, traded in my 2011 competition package M3 for a 2009 Carrera S. The M3 was too "soft" for me. The e90 has lost it's rawness and edge. It has become a big, heavy car and has lost it's steering feel and neutral handling that made the e36 and e46 M3s so great. I love my Carrera S but agree only enthusiasts appreciate it's light, raw and agile feel; and appreciate the sweet, unique sound of the engine.
