Best color on a GTS !! Get busy on some mods. Sharkworks bypass. You won't be disappointed . HRE lowering springs, Stainless brake lines. Few suggestions. Also MaCarbon and Exclusive Option or interior mods. FYI

What ever, HR maybe!! All I know is they make the car look tuff and handles tighter, I trust Champion Motorsports, they only install parts that work and are reliable.

 

What was he original MSRP vs what you paid?? Mileage at time of purchase?

 

123k msrp. 91k paid in full. less than 1,200 miles this july. GT2RS mirrors were installed on the car by the first owner.

 

I was looking to get more sound out of the exhaust. I immediately turn on the sport exhaust when I start the car, EVERY TIME. Heard mixed things about Sharkworks. With sport exhaust, I don't think it adds much more sounds. I was also looking at the Fabspeed x-pape. Same thing, not much difference in sound. Prove me wrong. My car has the SPASM, which makes the car 10-15mm lower, so not interested in springs. I'm not tracking the car, so don't know what advantage stainless brake lines will give me. Too me, interior mods can be tacky. I really like the alcantera accents throughout the interior.

Don't mean to have something against each of your suggestions, but I really like the car as is. The only thing I would like to do is add some more db's to the exhaust, but not sure what to do with that. I'm open to suggestions.

 

I've had a few things done by Sharwerks with excellent results and outstanding customer service. I'm curious about the mixed results you've heard. Care to elaborate?

By the way, I had the bypass installed just last week and it's great!! Nice sound for my GTS which already has PSE. A bit throatier without touching the button but not obtrusive--but hit the button and then let'er rip! Nice deep throaty sound.

If you get it from them and don't like it they'll take it back with a full refund. Just make sure it gets installed properly.

 

I've heard that the sound difference (db) wasn't much. I also listened to some of the videos posted on YouTube and didn't hear much difference with PSE on. I know video is tough, so I do take that with a grain of salt. I was also worried about losing low end power.

 

I had a friend with a GTS that replaced his center muffler (it is actually NOT a muffler) with the Sharkwerks pipe and he nor I could notice any difference in sound. Some have also complained about a vibration after installing the Sharkwerks pipe.

Also, beware of any PSE warranty claims you might need to make after installing the Sharkwerks pipe. I haven't had any issues with my PSE, but have read of some issues involving weld cracks/failures, solenoid/valves issues. Be prepared for Porsche to deny any claims like that with the pipe installed. My dealer has told me that Porsche has become very strict on warranty claims, and requires photos, among other pieces of documentation, for warranty claims. I specifically asked them about the Sharkwerks pipe and they told me they would install it for me, but if I had any warranty issues with the exhaust, I would have to have the exhaust returned to factory specs before the claim was made.

 

That's pretty Dolce !! Love the color, don't see many Dark Blue Metallic GTS, good luck surviving until spring. Hopefully it comes soon Any plans for future modifications or track dates ?

 

Are the videos altered then as they always demonstrate a change in the sound...

 

As an owner of said Sharkwerks bypass I can tell you this....the video doesn't really do the sound justice. Now I already have PSE so when the PSE is not engaged the change is subtle but noticeable...but only when you're accelerating. What I like is that for normal daily driving the car sounds ALMOST as quiet as stock. If you want more rumble from the moment you ease away from a stop, you'll probably need to go with a full exhaust replacement. With the PSE engaged, it's a different animal. It just adds a bit more of what the PSE already does, and certainly puts a smile on my face! Again, it may not be enough for some people but it's just the right amount of extra oomph for me. For the price I'd say it's worth it.

Regarding low end torque, I don't know if the bypass alone will have any impact. I also had the EVOMSit software update which together with the exhaust increased thee horsepower and torque across the full range. There are dyno results from Sharkwerks test car (and on EVOMSit's website) that show the actual numbers. My butt dyno says that there's a bit more grunt on the low end to go along with more noise--so again I'm quite happy. Whether you'll get the same type of results from the exhaust bypass only I can't say for sure, but the claim is that there will be NO iimpact.

I asked Sharkwerks about the vibration issue and again it seems to do more with the installation than anything else. In my car it has worked so far without any issue whatsoever and I've read many other posts that say the same. Of course YMMV but that's been my experience so far.

Finally, different Porsche dealers treat aftermarket changes with varying degrees of trepidation. Some will only look at the components that are at issue, others look at any change as an affront to the whole system. The best thing to do is talk to your local dealer and ask how they treat such changes. Some will say, "No problem", while others will give you no love whatsoever. When in doubt, ASK!

 

Demonstrate or claim? Are you comparing a PSE car before and after, or a non PSE car before or after? All I am saying is that neither I or the guy with the GTS could notice any difference. I think the videos on Sharkwerks website that feature a GTS, demonstrate the difference between the sound with sport button off, then on. Of course there will be a difference then. You need to remember that OEM thing that looks like a center muffler is not much of a muffler. The pipes just make a bend in there and go back out. So when you remove it, you are not removing as much sound deadening as you might think.

 

I agree that Porsche dealers might treat aftermarket changes differently. But it is not up to the dealer to decide if a warranty claim will be honored. My dealer told me that when warranty claims are made, PCNA requires documentation of the repair, including photos. My dealer told me that if the car is not fully stock, the claim will be denied. Obviously, if your PCM fails, the dealer is not going to take a photo of your exhaust to send Porsche. But if you have any type of exhaust claim, they will want a photo and if they see the mod, they can and will most likely deny the claim.

I had a friend that had a GT3 RS who sold the car to someone in Texas. The new owner ended up with some type of engine seal issue. The car had a full aftermarket exhaust. The dealer told the new owner that Porsche would not honor the warranty claim on the engine repair with the modded exhaust. The original owner fortunately had all the OEM parts that he sent to the new owner who then converted the exhaust back to stock for the warranty claim to proceed.

In this case the dealer certainly cut the owner some slack. The dealer could have noted the exhaust mod in the vehicle history in the PCNA computer so that he would have been screwed. But he allowed the owner to put the car back to stock condition and then proceed with the warranty repair.

 

I out the Sharkwerks center delete on my GTS and I can hear the difference. It's more noticeable with eh PSE on. i like the sound. If I didn't I would have taken it off.

Initially I didn't have a rattle but after about 2000 miles I picked up a bit of noise. Jacked up the rear and loosened the connections and tightened everything up again. Afterwards the issue was gone.

I used to sell the stock items from any modifications to a car. Now I keep everything. It makes any warranty issues much easier to deal with.
